£50M signing ‘to take Arsenal to the next level’ – fans have been told

Arsenal have been told that Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus will help take the club to that next level

Jesus is a player that many Arsenal fans have been accustomed to reading about on a daily basis – as he has constantly been linked with that move from Manchester to London

The Brazilian has scored 95 goals in 236 appearances for Man City and it has been claimed that Mikel Arteta sees him as the ideal striker to help get Arsenal challenging for trophies again and playing Champions League football

And amid all the speculation Merson believes he could take Arsenal to another level – he told the Daily Star: ‘Arsenal must get Gabriel Jesus if they are serious about getting back into the top four.

‘They have got to get him. It’s that simple. Everything goes out of the window if they don’t.

‘They don’t need young players with potential like Fabio Vieira. They need experience. And Jesus has plenty of that.

‘They need to sort the Jesus signing out very quickly. I think he is good enough to transform Arsenal. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

‘Yes, he does miss chances but he never goes hiding and he’s a centre forward who is desperate to score goals. He has that hunger and a little bit of a selfish streak and you need that.

‘If they get Jesus I think Arsenal fans can start to get excited. But if they don’t, they are going to be so far short.’

There is no doubt that Jesus will be a very good signing for Arsenal -he is a top player – but nobody believes that he is the man that will score 20-30 goals a season and help Arsenal close the gap on the top two sides
