26-goal hitman ‘in the same bracket as Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane’. as Manchester United close in on transfer signing
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy believes Raul Jimenez would fit the bill for Manchester United, saying he’s ‘in the same bracket as Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane’.
There has been some big rumours in the media over the last few days that Jimenez could be on his way to Manchester United in a deal worth around £40 million, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add a number nine to his front line.
The Mexican star has been in terrific form for Wolves this season and has netted an impressive 26-goals, but with the club closing in on a deal for Paulinho, they are seemingly given up hope of keeping hold of Jimenez.
And Cundy has claimed Jimenez would fit the bill for Manchester United: “He is too good for that Wolves side,” said the Sports Bar host, speaking recently.
“Is he a Champions League player, yes or no? If the answer is ‘yes’ then he has to be thinking bigger and better right now.
“I don’t doubt that Wolves are going in the right direction, and they don’t have to sell him, but I’m talking about the individual. Wolves are a brilliant side but sentiment does not come into it.
“He is a wonderful football player. He is in the same bracket as Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane – he is that good.
“If I was Ed Woodward, go and get him. You can’t get Kane right now. Kane is going to be tough and he’s had injury problems.
“Can you imagine putting Jimenez in a side that could potentially create more problems?”
If the reports are true and he is heading to Old Trafford, it will be a very good bit of business by the Red Devils, Jimenez is a top striker.
