‘Chelsea have still got a lot of lure about them’ as former Chairman has big Eden Hazard transfer message
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes it’s not necessarily a foregone conclusion that Eden Hazard leaves Chelsea at the end of the season.
Hazard has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for the last few seasons and all indications suggest that the summer window will see the Belgian finally get that ‘dream move’ to La Liga, where he can link-up with childhood idol Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane was re-appointed managed of Madrid last week after the Spaniards humiliating defeat to Ajax in the Champions League, and many believe that the Frenchman will do all he can to secure a deal for Hazard, whom he is a big fan of.
However, Chelsea are still trying to get Hazard to sign a massive £350,000-a-week contract with the club and former Palace Chairman Jordan has claimed that it is not a foregone conclusion that the winger leaves the club.
Jordan said on the TalkSport website: “The kid sends out mixed messages – you never know whether you’re Arthur or Martha with him. One minute he’s here and the next he’s going.
“So I don’t think it’s necessarily a foregone conclusion that he’ll go to Madrid because I think Chelsea have still got a lot of lure about them.
“Everyone’s house is for sale if someone offers you twice the price for it. In this situation, what benefit is the money if they can’t buy any players?”
Here is what we think.
Keeping hold of Hazard all depends on Champions League football and whether Chelsea can meet his ambitions on a personal level, but with the transfer ban meaning they cannot sign any world class players over the next few windows, then it will be difficult to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City in the coming seasons.
He is at his very best right now and needs that move to Madrid, as in his mind, that is his best chance of winning the Champions League and worlds best player tag.
