United told Haaland over Kane, Solskjaer urged to sign striker, Boss addresses rumours of Man United signing and Kehl issues Haaland statement

Kehl issues Haaland message, Solskjaer on Aguero deal, Scholes urges club to sign striker, and Haaland over Kane in Manchester United roundup…

Sebastian Kehl has admitted Borussia Dortmund may reach a point where they are powerless to keep hold of Manchester United target Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window.

Haaland is a player that has been in the headlines alot of the past few weeks, with all the games biggest clubs now looking to pay his £100 million asking price in the summer to possibly get a deal done.

It is no secret that United will be in the market for a new striker in the summer, because despite all their quality in attack, they do not have a striker that is able to score 30-goals a season like Haaland can.

Kehl, Dortmund’s head of first-team football has said positive talks have taken place with the player’s agent – with their intention being to keep the forward at the club.

“Our position is clear: we are planning with Erling,” Kehl said. “We are very relaxed about that.

“Of course, we have been following the situation. But we had a very, very good talk with Mino and his (Haaland’s) father just recently.”

The concern for Dortmund is Haaland has a reported buy-out clause of €75 million (£64m / $88m) that becomes active in 2022, and any club who bids that figure would take BVB out of the picture.

But When asked if Haaland has asked Dortmund to let him leave, Kehl replied: “I don’t want to go into those talks now. From a certain point on, we may no longer be able to influence what the future will bring.”

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emphatically ruled out a move for Sergio Aguero in the summer.

Aguero is leaving City after 10 years at the club, with the 32-year-old striker to become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season, and there has been alot of rumours in the media about where he could end up over the next few months.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has ruled out a move for Aguero while Chelsea have been linked with the Argentine, and there has even been some speculation that United may be open to the idea of bringing the man to Old Trafford.

Howeber, Solskjaer made it clear he does not expect the player to make a switch to Old Trafford: “When I played for Man Utd, if a rival club would try to sign me and I’d gone to a rival club, where’s the loyalty?” Solskjaer said on Sky Sports

“Of course, loyalty is one of the values I rank highly. So I wouldn’t expect any player who had played for a club for 10 years to want to go to a local rival.”

“I know we’re professional but when you play for Man Utd, you don’t go to Man City,” Solskjaer added.

“We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree to those moves, to put it that way. I don’t want to name names, but you all know who I point my finger at. Enough said.”

Paul Scholes says signing a new striker should be Manchester United’s top priority, with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane the two names most linked with a move to the club.

Kane, who is eager to start winning trophies, has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and there has been some suggestions that he may now be open to the idea of leaving his boyhood club in the summer, while Haaland is one of the most sought after players in the game right now.

It is no secret that Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer has one of the most exciting attacks in the Premier League, but it is also no secret that they are lacking a forward that is able to bring another 30 goals to the attack.

And heading into the coming transfer window, Scholes has told the club that they need to sign a new striker: “First and foremost, they need a number nine,” the former United midfielder said on Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel .

“I think the forwards they have are very good, but are any of them really a number nine, are they wide players? You just can’t make sense out of it, really.

“When [Edinson] Cavani’s played, he’s looked alright, but he’s picked up a few injuries. He’s at that age, it was always going to happen, he was always going to be bit-part.

“They need someone who is more permanent. I know Haaland is talked about a lot, he’s going to cost a lot of money. Harry Kane at Spurs, there are rumours that he might want to leave there.

Club legend Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to make a summer transfer move for Erling Haaland, rather than trying to sign Harry Kane in the transfer window.

“I think any one of them, you take any one of them, but I think if I had to choose, then Haaland would definitely be the one.

“Purely for his age, his ability, the timing of his career, he’s played under Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] before. I think it would make sense for everyone to do it, but there’s going to be other clubs in for him, so it will be difficult.

“I like Kane, I think he’s brilliant. When he first came onto the scene, I likened him to Ruud [van Nistelrooy], he’s a ruthless finisher, desperate to score goals.

“I just think at the stages of each one’s career, then you get more out of Haaland.”

The fact that both players will cost a whole load of money will mean that United will have to be careful about whom they buy, so it will be interesting to see just what striker the club look to sign.
