Defender OFFICIALLY signs up with Chelsea – Boehly told to sign 261-goal star – Chelsea make move to sign £64m man

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootbballnews that we think you may have missed from today –

Chelsea have reportedly ‘made contact’ over a deal to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa – as a possible replacement for Edouard Mendy.

The Senegal international has impressed in the Blues net since his arrival from Rennes in 2020 and has established himself as one of the best stoppers in world football.

However – his place in the first-team as come under threat this season – as he was sidelined with a knee injury when Graham Potter arrived at Stamford Bridge in September with Kepa Arrizabalaga coming back into the fold as a result, impressing with a string of much improved performances.

He is still considered to be the number one at Chelsea – but with Kepa working his way back into the squad and all the speculation that Potter wants to bring in another stopper – it has been claimed that he is now looking into leaving the club

Now Spanish outlet Relevo claims Chelsea have made initial contact over a deal, but have been told he will not come cheap, having only recently signed a new deal with Porto.

His new contract contains a mega release clause worth an estimated £64million.

The report adds that super-agent Jorge Mendes recently approached Porto to declare his interest in brokering a blockbuster transfer this summer.

Although Mendy has not had the best of starts to the new season that he has in previous years – he is still one of the best stoppers in world football

But if he is considering leaving the club – then yes – the Blues will need a replacement.

The Portugal shot-stopper has forced his way into international reckoning after an impressive season and started their World Cup opening win over Ghana

He is a very good goalkeeper – but we are not sure that he is any better than what Chelsea already have

Chelsea told to sign Kane –

Chelsea have been told to forget about signing Cristiano Ronaldo and making a move for Tottenham star Harry Kane instead.

Ted Boehly is a massive fan of the man and was keen to sign Ronaldo in the summer window – but he stayed put and the American missed out – but he has been keeping a very close eye on the player.

And now that he is on the transfer market once again – It has been claimed that Boehly is very keen to try and secure a transfer deal for the five time Ballon D’Or winner.

However – Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink would have backed Chelsea’s move for Ronaldo a few months ago but no longer wants to see the Portuguese star at Stamford Bridge – but would love Kane.

He told Grosvenor Casinos: ‘I would have done Ronaldo for Chelsea in the summer, for one year, but obviously now I think the priorities are bigger in the summer.

‘I would try to persuade Kane to come. That would be a very controversial move, but surely he’s going to want to win things. Surely he knows he’s not going to win with Spurs.

‘Surely, he’s not enjoying the way he is playing at the moment and where he’s playing. I know they’re all doing the shift for the team, but the majority of the time, when they don’t have the ball, he’s 10 meters away from his own box.

‘You know, so surely he’s not going to want to be playing like that for the next two or three years.

‘Surely he would want to be with the club that is going to go for it and is going to try to win trophies or are going to be closer to winning the trophies, so for me, they should go for him.’

We totally agree with the Chelsea legend as Kane is just the type of player that would make a real difference to that attack.

But he would cost some serious money

Defender signs up –

Trevoh Chalobah has signed a long-term contract extension at Chelsea – and he has admitted just how delighted he is with the deal

Chalobah, an academy graduate, has made 13 appearances so far this season in all competitions, featuring predominantly as the right-sided or central defender in a back three under Graham Potter.

He has been given a real chance to shine in that Chelsea squad this summer and now the defender has committed to the Blues until at least June 2028, with a club option to extend to 2029.

On signing his new deal, Chalobah said: “I’m over the moon to sign this contract. It’s been an honour every time I put the shirt on. I want to give my all and do anything for this club.

“As everyone knows I’ve been here from a young age and to continue here is every kid’s dream. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll give my all for the club and look for the future ahead.

“I want to say thanks to God for this, without Him none of this would be possible. And just always believing.

“Thanks to my family as well and the club for trusting in me. I’ll now continue to give my all.”

This is great news for the lad- he really has become an important member of that Chelsea side and fully deserves a new deal.

It also shows that the club have belief in him and can see him as part of the sides future – so as we said – it is great news for the lad
