Tenacious Dutch midfielder announces ‘I’m looking forward to playing football for Chelsea’ after move ANNOUNCED

Dutch star Wieke Kaptien has revealed she is honored to be at Chelsea after completing her move from FC Twente this week.

After being the youngest player in the Dutch squad for the World Cup, the 18-year-old will now hope to fulfil her potential at CHELSEA in the long term after the Blues made the decision to get a move done.

The first of those four years will be spent back on loan with Twente, after which Kaptien will aim to be ready to make an impression for Emma Hayes’ side and hopefully become a first-team regular.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

Speaking on becoming a Blue, the teenager said: ‘It’s a really big club and I’m very honoured to be here. I’m looking forward to playing football for Chelsea. I can’t wait to meet the players and fans, but I am happy I can develop myself one more year in the Eredivisie.’

General manager Paul Green added: ‘We’re really pleased to bring Wieke to the club. She is a player we have been watching for quite a while. She has a lot of experience for such a young age having played regularly over the last couple of years for Twente in their first team.

‘We look forward to seeing her do well for Twente this season and continuing her development.’

Unlike the Chelsea men, the CHELSEA women have been making some very good transfer decisions over the past few months and adding the talented Wieke to the squad is a good move.

So even though she still has a long way to go before she will become a regular at Stamford Bridge – she is still a very good signing for the club.
