Manchester United to do one more big deal? after Kehl drops £100 million transfer message
Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastian Kehl claims the Bundesliga giants were always confident that Manchester United target Erling Haaland would stay put this summer.
It is no secret that Manchester United have been long-term admirers of the Bundesliga hitman and were linked with a transfer move for Haaland at the beginning of the transfer window.
But adding Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to the squad has meant most of the transfer budget has been taken, and United are not willing to pay that massive £100 million asking price that has been placed on his head.
But the prolific Norwegian striker continuing to generate plenty of rumours after starting the new season with two goals and a couple of assists in a 5-2 mauling of Eintracht Frankfurt, and there is rumours suggesting that United could make one more big transfer offer.
However, A man who has now scored 62 goals through 61 appearances for Dortmund has offered no indication that he is looking for a move, and Kehl has opened up and claimed that the Bundesliga giants were always confident they would keep Haaland at the club.
Kehl says there was never any chance of BVB buckling, telling Viaplay of a long-running transfer saga: “There were a lot of rumours, a lot of discussions, but internally we were always clear with Erling, with his father, with Mino Raiola.
“For that reason, we were always very calm.
“[Haaland]’s here, you can see him, he’s very motivated and very engaged, and he wants to play a great season for Borussia Dortmund.”
Haaland is a world class player that has a big asking price. But it is probably a good thing to wait until next summer to buy the lad has he has a release clause in his contract which would allow him to join the likes of United for just £68 million
