Jurgen Klopp addresses rumours of possible Liverpool signing this month
Jurgen Klopp has opened up on the prospect of Liverpool signing a new defender this month.
Injuries have been an issue for Liverpool throughout the current campaign, particularly at the back, while an uncharacteristic lack of firepower has led to points to being dropped in their last three fixtures.
Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City are now all coming for that top spot in the Premier League, and Klopp has been urged on numerous occasions to spend the money and try to sign a few new players this month.
But Liverpool fans have been left disappointed after the German opened up and admitted that a new defender would unlikely arrive this months because of the COVID-19 dilemma that is dominating the world.
Klopp on centre-back plans: “I can’t say definitely we won’t bring someone in. Just not likely because of the situation in the world. It’s a tough for one for all people and football clubs. Some clubs don’t have financial problems but this club – these owners – very responsible.”
“I don’t know if something will happen or not. It would be a short-term solution and that is not right, it doesn’t help really. So we deal like we have so far. Not the best moment for the whole planet so why would it be for a football club?”
Klopp could just be playing games and actually have a new signing in mind, but if he does not sign a new defender, it could be very hard for the club to win back that title, they look very fragile at the back at times
