Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.com
Shkodran Mustafi wants to forget the past as he prepares for his return to the Arsenal first-team.
The Germany international was heralded after signing in 2016 for a fee of around £35million, his career in north London has been far from successful, with a number of poor performances at the end of last season seeing Mustafi drop out of the side.
That has led to a lot of speculation in the media which has suggested that he could in fact be heading for the exit signs at the Emirates, with a number of clubs lining up a possible transfer deal for the German.
But, in an interview with Arsenal’s official website, the 27-year-old has admitted he knew he had to remain professional to get a chance, and is now hoping to put the past behind him in order to get back to his best
He told Arsenal Player: “As a central defender you have a lot of pressure, but then you make this mistake and suddenly the pressure becomes even more.
“As a central defender you have to do your job perfectly to just have a normal game.
“When you will win all your tackles, when you win everything on the pitch but then make one mistake that you’re punished for, it destroys everything that you did before.
“This is something that makes this position so hard. It affects you, too.”
David Ornstein has suggested that the Arsenal interested in Brazilian ace Bruno Guimaraes is ‘just media speculation’.
Chelsea have been in the transfer headlines for weeks now after it emerged that Frank Lampard will be able to spend some serious money to help improve his side in key areas of the pitch.
That has led to speculation in the media suggesting that Lampard is keen to splash some money in order to land the £34 million signing of Guimaraes, who is rated very highly across Europe.
But according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Arsenal are now ready to swoop in and try to temp the Chelsea target to make the big money move to the Emirates.
Arsenal are said to be following developments but no talks appear to have taken place yet, with Athletico demanding £34m (€40m) to do business.
But Ornstein’s latest claims appear to have poured cold water on these rumours, here is what he said about a possible deal for the midfielderdeal for the midfielderdeal for the midfielder: “Bruno Guimaraes I don’t know very much about and I’ve been told by a couple of people that this is just media speculation at the moment.”
“Now, because I don’t have specific information on it, I’m not shooting down those reports, I’m merely saying that’s what I’ve been told by a couple of people I trust, just press reports at this moment in time.”
“Similar situation it feels like to what happened with Everton, the Brazilian player, last summer.”
“It’ll be quite interesting to see how things develop because Arsenal have got irons in a number of fires at the moment.”
Will Arsenal be signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this transfer window?
Mikel Arteta ha as big job on his hands this season building a side that is capable of challenging for that top four spot, never mind actually beating off the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester, Manchester United and Wolves for Champions League football next season.
But he will reportedly be handed funds to improve key areas of the pitch over the next few weeks, with reports suggesting that he is keen to sign a couple of defenders to help make the side a more solid unit, and that has led to some shock speculation in the media suggesting that the Gunners boss may be interested in trying to acquire the services of Boateng over the next few weeks, and we have an update on a possible deal, WATCH VIDEO BELOW GUYS.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp doesn’t believe Arsenal are far away from taking the next step and challenging for the title.
Klopp may have won the Champions League last season and is sitting pretty at the very top of the Premiewr League this season, but the battle behind to catch up to the Germans side ha sonly just begun.
Manchester City are under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and are always a threat, Manchester United are a few signings away from getting back in the hunt, Spurs have hired Jose Mourinho in order to get that winning mentality, while Chelsea have begun the long process of bringing talent through the ranks in order to build a solid foundation.
But over at the Emirates, there is some real concern among the media that Arsenal are heading in the wrong direction after the appointment of Mikel Arteta, as the Spanish boss has a squad that will struggle to even get back inside the top six by the end of the season.
But despite the poor results lately, in discussion with former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for beIN SPORTS, the Liverpool manager spoke of the intense competition in the Premier League and said he expected Arsenal to rival his side once they had sorted their defensive problems out.
“We have made good [transfer] decisions and that is what you need to make the next step in football because the other teams don’t sleep,” said Klopp.
“Manchester City constantly bring in players, Leicester, now, are a really good team and made really smart decisions in the transfer market on top of what they already have.
‘Arsenal, for example, are a team offensively that are still a really good side but defensive organisation doesn’t work out yet.
‘The moment they sort that, they make the next step. So that is the league we are facing.
“We have to develop, it is not if we want to. We have to to be as successful as possible.”
