Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has message for Barcelona pair Coutinho and Suarez!
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is relishing the prospect of facing his former players Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez in the Champions League when the Reds face Barcelona.
Liverpool are having a fine season under the German boss and are arguably the favourites to win the Premier League and Champions League titles, with Klopp having one of the best attacks and defences in the competitions.
And after a dominating 6-1 aggregate win against Porto In the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Liverpool have been rewarded with a big tie against Spanish Champions Barcelona for a place in the final, with both sides looking o win their sixth European title.
‘Honestly the only thing I’m thinking about is Cardiff on Sunday, but I can answer the question because it was clear since yesterday that if we win it we will play these boys,’ Klopp told Viasport when asked about facing the two former Liverpool stars.
‘For them [Coutinho and Suarez], for these two boys, it’s very special. For us, it’s special. They are both Liverpool legends, that’s brilliant.
‘But I think it will not be a friendly game so we have to fight, we have to work, they will do it as well.
‘It’s so wonderful that you play with Liverpool against Barcelona in a European semi-final, that itself is a wonderful message and now let’s try to do the best and we’ll see what happens.’
Liverpool have their eyes firmly on winning the premier League, as that is the trophy that many people associated with the club really want. So the Champions League is a bonus for many fans, and this tie will be a very exciting couple of games for Liverpool fans.
Barcelona are one of the best sides in world football and have the greatest player of his generation Lionel Messi, but if they can stop the Argentine, then Liverpool have a great chance of winning the Champions League this season.
The defence is world class and the attack is one of the best in the business, and Barcelona will not have wanted the Reds to progress this far as Klopps side is the only side they feared the most.
