Chelsea news: Powerhouse announces ‘i moved because i’m wanted’

Kalidou Koulibaly has revealed that he made the decision to leave Chelsea because he wanted to be somewhere he was wanted.

Koulibaly was only signed by the Blues last summer in a deal that many believed was the perfect situation for Chelsea – as they needed a world class defender like the big man.

However – he has not made the impact that many had hoped for and now he has left the club only after one season.

The Blues have made roughly £20million from Koulibaly’s sale, and he failed to live up to expectations after joining from Napoli

After his departure was officially announced, the Senegal international reflected on his time in England.

He said: “I had no guarantees to get regular playing time [at Chelsea], I was always professional but I don’t like to sit on the bench doing nothing. I prefer a place where I am wanted and at the centre of the project and can be an example for young players.

‘The Premier League is fantastic and there are great players. They expected the Koulibaly of Napoli, but I think my season was not so bad. I needed time and in one year I couldn’t prove what I wanted because of the coach’s and club’s choices.

‘I am happy with what I learned about my limits, my family and my kids. My time had come and I had to make a decision.

‘My team-mates sent me so many messages, they are all sorry, but I have to prepare for the Afcon. It’s the most important thing for me, Senegal want to win again, but it won’t be easy.”

All the big players seem to want to go to Saudi Arabia right now – it is where the money is at.

CHELSEA are selling alot of players – so there will be many more announcements over the next couple of days – but it is a shame to see the big man leave Europe – he has had some big clubs after him over the last few weeks.

So it is not all about playing on a regular basis – it is about the contract that he is now on – which is alot more than that £200,000-a-week that e was reportedly on at Chelsea.
