Rudiger issues fresh statement, Kounde makes transfer admission and Szalai to sign contract in Chelsea roundup…

Antonio Rudiger insists he is only focused on Chelsea and ‘owes’ it to the club to keep performing amid speculation

Rudiger, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and therefore free to talk to foreign teams from as early as January over a potential move away from Stamford Bridge.

There has been alot of interest in a player that has become a big part of the squad at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of PSG, Juventus and even Barcelona all keeping a very close eye on the developments at Chelsea.

Chelsea have placed Jules Kounde, Matthijs de Ligt and Pau Torres on their transfer wishlist as they prepare for the potential departures of both Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, But the German has recently opened up and admitted that he is happy at the Club

Despite the enormous amount of speculation surrounding him at present, Rudiger says his contract situation is at the very back of his mind and he will continue to give his all for Chelsea.

‘For now I am only concentrating on what is happening right now. I owe that to the club, the coach and the team,’ Rudiger told Welt am Sonntag.

Probed further on whether a return to the Bundesliga was a possibility, Rudiger reiterated: ‘I’m currently only focused on Chelsea. We’ll see what happens.’

Rudiger may not be the best defender in world football, but he is very solid, so letting him go would actually be a massive mistake from Chelsea

They should save a few million and tie him down to a nice new contract guys’

Sevilla star Jules Kounde has admitted to being affected by his failed transfer to Chelsea in the summer.

Regarded as one of the finest talents in the game right now, all the biggest clubs have been keeping a very close eye on the development of Kounde over the past few seasons as he is being tipped to become a top tier defender

Chelsea’s pursuit of Kounde was one of the most well-documented sagas of the last transfer window as Thomas Tuchel sought to add greater depth to his defensive ranks.

The France international played a key role in the club’s run to a fourth-place Liga finish, with his versatility proving crucial for head coach Julen Lopetegui.

Sevilla ultimately managed to keep hold of Kounde, but the 23-year-old has now indicated he was disappointed not to secure the move to Stamford Bridge.

Kounde told French broadcaster Telefoot: “Did my failed transfer to Chelsea this summer affect me? Yes, a little bit, but now it’s digested.”

Chelsea opted against paying his €80m (£68m/$95m) release clause, with the Spanish manager telling Diario de Sevilla: “Kounde, in the end, has stayed because the club has decided that it was the right thing to do based on the evaluation of the offers they may have had.”

There are a few young players out there that could move to Chelsea right now and not walk into that first team, Kounde is not one of those players. He is already proven at the top level and the fact he could be at the club for the next ten years is just why the Blues wanted him

The January window is just a few weeks away, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea reignite their interest to try and get a deal done

Fresh reports have claimed that Attila Szalai is set to agree a six-year contract with Chelsea

Chelsea may have one of the best squads in Europe right now and a club that will win a few more trophies this season, but Thomas Tuchel knows that he will need to keep adding to his squad in order to keep improving his side

And reports have claimed The Blues are keen on getting the Hungarian in January and with the Turkish club keen to raise funds, a move looks likely according to The Sun.

The reports states that other Premier League cubs have already expressed interest in the defender in the past.

Reports in both Turkey and Hungary now claim that Chelsea have been on Szalai’s trail throughout this season, the reports explains.

Now CNN Turkey has claimed Negotiations have accelerated in recent days and Szalai is expected to put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge where he will earn around €4m-a-year (£3.4m-a-year).

Szalai will become the most expensive player in the history of Hungarian football should Chelsea finalise the move. The record currently belongs to Dominik Szoboszlai, who was sold from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig for a fee of €20m (£17m).

Speaking last week, Chelsea boss Tuchel warned his squad they would be ‘pushed to the limit’ across their relentless winter schedule.

‘Looking at the fixtures in December and January, it’s a lot,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘The World Cup is coming and the international break travels so we decided here to give staff one week off completely and to give everybody the chance to recover also mentally and to recharge the batteries.

‘December will be tough, January will be tough and it will continue like this so no more breaks [after that] and we want to push the team to the limit.

‘That’s why we use the time now after the game to rest.’
