Chelsea deal close: World class midfielder has now agreed personal terms

CHELSEA midfielder Mateo Kovacic has now agreed personal terms with Manchester City

Chelsea have been one of the most active sides in the transfer windows over the last few seasons – and there are alot of changes going on in the club – with a new board – and possibly a new manager.

Kovacic, 28, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2024. Chelsea do not want to lose the man, but there is a feeling that he is ready to depart the club.

Kovacic had been in talks with the Premier League champions over the last week but there has now been a breakthrough, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Croatian is said to be keen on the move with Chelsea happy to let him go.

Speaking about the transfer rumours yesterday, he said: “Manchester City is a top team and deserves to be in the Champions League final. That’s what I have to say. The summer is long, we’ll see what happens.

“Chelsea is phenomenal for me. I love the city and the fans, they love me, I have wonderful memories of Chelsea. We’ll see what happens.”

Look, Kovacic has been a brilliant player for CHELSEA over the seasons there is no doubt about that – but a move to Man City will give him more chances to win titles – even if he does not play on a weekly basis.

He is a player that will add depth to that Man City squad and although he may not play every week – he will get alot of game time.

It is a surprise to see that Chelsea are willing to let the man leave – but at the end of the day – if he does not want to be at the club then the best thing for the club is to let him leave.

And they buy a better alternative
