Klopp-Hazard message, Pogba focused, Kroos wants move, £112 million Bale in Liverpool Man United Saturday
Here is the daily roundup of Manchester United news and gossip.
Real Madrid will start negotiations for Gareth Bale at £112m this summer, with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly interested in a possible transfer deal.
Now that Solskjaer has been handed the permanent position as boss of United, there has been a lot of transfer speculation about whom the boss will try and sign during the summer transfer window to try and get the Red Devils back challenging for the Premier League and Champions League titles.
And one name that has been mentioned as a possible summer signing is that of Bale, who is seemingly on his way out the club after failing to impress the fans and management with his performances, especially as he was meant to fill the void that Cristiano Ronaldo left when he departed the club.
And according to reports on Spanish publication AS are reporting that Bale will become part of a mass summer overhaul at Real Madrid this summer, which will see £430m worth of star names leave.
It is believed that Madrid will likely have to accept a lower figure than the £112 million that Madrid will start negotiations at given the Welshman’s current £10m-a-year contract after tax.
If United are serious about winning the Premier League title once again, then landing a big game player like Bale could be just the solution they may need after Bale departs. (Read more)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rejected suggestions Paul Pogba’s performance levels for Manchester United have dipped amid all the talk that he is eyeing up a summer move to Real Madrid.
Pogba has been in spectacular form for United since the arrival of Solskjaer and is starting to show the kind of world class ability which forced United to splash over £100 million to secure his services from Juventus just a few seasons ago.
However, over the past few weeks there has been some speculation linking the Frenchman with a mega money move away from Old Trafford as Madrid are keen to splash the cash and revamp their side, with talk Zinedine Zidane will be handed a massive £450 million to sign some big name players in the transfer market.
But Solskjaer has come out and claimed that despite all the transfer speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future, Pogba is fully focused on doing the job for the club.
“In my talks with Paul he has always been positive here and I don’t see a difference in him when I chat to him,” Solskjaer said on the Sky Sports website.
“I thought Paul made us play [against Barcelona]. He settled us down a bit, in the first half especially.
“We just fell away towards the end but the effort he put in physically was just tremendous, he had his highest-ever output physically.
“So he has never run as much in a Manchester United shirt. That was brilliant the way the effort and attitude is there.” (Read more)
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Arsenal transfer target Antonio Valencia will be leaving the club, and he will need to find a new captain for the club.
The 33-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season and United have not taken their option for extending it for a further 12 months, which means that he is all set to pack his bags and walk away from the club after a decade of top-level service for the Red Devils.
And that led to shock speculation that Arsenal boss Unai Emery may be interested in taking him to the Emirates on a short-term deal, as the Spanish boss is keen to provide some much needed back-up to the injury prone Hector Bellerin, as Stephen Lichsteiner has not impressed like many had hoped.
Now amid all the transfer speculation surrounding the future of Valencia, Solskjaer has come out and revealed that he will be looking for a new club captain, as Valencia will be departing the club, he told Sky Sports news: “I’ve got a couple of players in my head that could be in the group of captaincy.
“We’ve had Antonio [Valencia], he’s going. We’ve had David de Gea, Ashley Young, Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling. We will see who’s here for next season.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has warned his players that they need to starve Eden Hazard of possession in order of stopping the Chelsea man wrecking their Premier League title chase.
Maurizio Sarri’s side head to Anfield on Sunday hoping to derail Liverpool’s bid to win the league title for the first time since 1990 and Hazard will be central to Chelsea’s hopes of pulling off an unlikely victory, as the Belgian has looked in imperious form for the Blues over the course of the season, despite all the transfer rumours that he is leaving.
Klopp knows that he needs three points to keep up with City as the Manchester club very rarely lose a game and if Liverpool can keep the pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side with a big victory over Chelsea, then maybe the reigning Champions will slip up.
‘We will take 13 players this time, and two will play only against Eden!’ Klopped joked on the Sky Sports website
‘We have to make sure he can’t shine. Stop passes to him, react better than other teams did.
‘When he has the ball, already too late. Read the game, read the passes. In a one vs one you can’t defend him. ‘On his day, he can be the world’s best immediately. He had a brilliant career so far, and it’s not over yet.
‘I like his joy, cheeky as well, strong, quick, he’s a good player! But all good players have to play against us, and we have to try everything.’ (Read more)
Fresh reports have claimed long-term Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target Toni Kroos wants to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Regarded as one of the finest passes of the ball in world football, Kroos has been part of the Madrid side that has won three Champions League titles on the spin and was part of the German side that won the World Cup just four years ago.
However, he has not looked like a very happy an this season and he has been dropping hints that he is ready to leave the club, with a whole host of Premier League and Italian clubs interested in trying to secure a transfer deal, with a fee of around £50 million on the cards.
And according to reports on the AS website, Kroos’ words have not gone down well with Real’s hierarchy, and with the club looking to overhaul an ageing squad, there is a feeling that the Spaniards are ready to cash in and let him leave for the right price, especially after he reportedly informed the club that he wants to leave.
If Kroos has decided that he wants to leave Madrid at the end of the season, there will be no shortage of suitors for his signature as he is still one of the best passers in the ball that Europe has to offer.
Liverpool and United already have a number of top-class midfielders at the clubs and do not need to spend anymore money in that department, both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp needs to delve into the transfer kitty and land a couple of world class defenders, rather than buy another midfielder.
