Lacazette opens up and announces ‘he is not happy’ with reports he is leaving to help Arsenal wrap up Partey deal
Alexandre Lacazette is unhappy at talk Arsenal could use him as a makeweight to pull off a transfer for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Arsenal have been linked with a move to try and sign Partey all summer as he is a very high target for boss Mikel Arteta, but his asking price of £43 million has so far been a problem for the club.
However, A cash-plus-player offer could sweeten the deal for Atletico, with the Liga giants in the market for a new frontman and have been linked with a move for Lacazette the whole summer window.
Lacazette has constantly admitted that he is keen to stay at the club, but with reports that Arsenal have stepped up their chase to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer window, he may not be needed at the club.
However, Lacazette has now opened up and admitted his unhappiness at the rumours that he could be sold this summer in order for Arsenal to wrap up their transfer deal for Partey,
The striker blasted on the SUN: “If that is true, no, it does not make me happy.
“What counts, is the choices that the coach makes, his belief.
“He is the one who makes the team, not the directors up high in the offices, and I know that he believes in me.”
It will be very interesting to see just how this plays out over the next few weeks as there is plenty of time for Arsenal to sell Lacazette and get Partey, a player that Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of and would love to add to his side.
But it is just a shame that Arsenal may need to sell before they can add, as having both players in the side would be more productive for the club.
