Frank Lampard reveals there is clause in Brazilians contract which means he will be at Chelsea next season
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed there is an option to extend Thiago Silva’s contract by another year.
After leaving PSG at the back-end of last season, Many in the media firmly believes that Silva was too old to make an impact in the Premier League and was just looking for one more big pay-check before he heads over to China or the MLS.
But the Brazilian has looked nothing short of world class for this Chelsea side and have helped the Blues get back on track in their quest to regain that Premier League title from under the noses of Manchester City and Liverpool
Lampard always expected Silva to be a success at Stamford Bridge but he has been blown away by the 36-year-old’s conduct on and off the pitch, and recent reports in the media revealed that Chelsea were keen to open talks and get the Brazilian signed up to a new contract.
Now it has been revealed that Lampard has confirmed that there is an option for Chelsea to sign up the Brazilian for another season, the post on Twitter revealed: “Lampard confirms there is an option to extend Thiago Silva’s contract by another year. #CHETOT
There is not much more than we can say but Silva has been brilliant for Chelsea, he is that leader they have been missing and now they are looking alot more solid at the back.
They need to keep him fit though, there could be issues when he is missing from the team as there is not a player like him in the back-line, a player that will immediately say im world class, some get some.
But if the reports are true and he is about to sign a new contract and stay for a little longer, it will be a very good decision from Chelsea to make, and a contract that he would fully deserve.
However, Chelsea will need to delve into that transfer kitty at some point to try and sign a player that is a more long-term solution for the Brazilian because the defence without him is not the best in the League
