Lampard announces delight after big man signed up, Striker officially agrees Chelsea deal, Exciting Ziyech message sent, Agent announces Midfielder to be at Chelsea this summer
Lampard announces Caballero delight, Chelsea sign up Giroud, Ziyech message sent, Jorginho to stay in Chelsea news….
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has opened up on the news that Willy Caballero has agreed to stay with the club.
Chelsea have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months with so many players linked with a summer move to Stamford Bridge, top-players, world-class players that would send a statement to the rest of the Premier League.
However, with the coronavirus hitting all the clubs hard, it could be a very light summer transfer window for Chelsea, and many other teams in the Premier League, meaning that the club have had to make a few transfer decisions.
And one of those decisions was whether or not to keep hold of the ageing, but impressing Caballero this transfer window, who has been very impressive this season when he has had to cover the Spaniard Kepa.
Lampard has not been happy with the performances of Kepa, who has been linked with a move away from the club, and the 38-year old stood in for the Spaniard after a poor run of form midway through the season.
And he he obviously considered a valuable member of the team, with Lampard opening up and announcing his delight at the fact that Caballero has now agreed to stay at the club for a further 12 months.
Lampard told the Chelsea website: “I trust in Willy, he trains brilliantly and is a great professional.
“He stepped into the team earlier this year and showed his quality, and his experience is invaluable in the dressing room.
“I’m delighted he will be with us next season.”
Hakim Ziyech has been compared to football legends Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp ahead of his move to Chelsea.
Ziyech is considered to be one of the most creative players in the game right now and has constantly broke the 20-assist barrier for Ajax over the past three seasons or so.
However, Chelsea decided to make their move way back in February to try and tempt the winger to the club, a move that has been heralded as a summer bargain, due to the fact that Chelsea are paying just £37 million to secure his services.
There have been many out there that believe he will be a massive player for Chelsea when he officially signs up, and many fans are excited to see just what he is able to bring to the club.
Now Dutch commentator Jan Roelfs, who regularly covers Ajax, is confident that the 27-year-old is worth the wait as his quality is undeniable, and Roelfs even compared his talent to that of Ajax legends Cruyff, Van Basten and Bergkamp who are highly regarded as some of the best forwards in the history of the game.
He told the NOS football podcast: “Ziyech will not be lost in England, he has so much quality.
“When I make a list of Ajax players, I think of Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Hakim Ziyech, in that order. I really think he is close to that as a stylist.
“I go to the stadium for someone like Ziyech – that is an important condition for me. There are a few football players like that.”
Jorginho’s agent insists the midfielder is happy at Chelsea and claims Juventus have not made an approach.
After moving to Chelsea last summer, Jorginho managed to play 54 games for Chelsea last season in all competitions and became an integral part of plans under Sarri.
However, after the Italian left the club and made the move to Juventus, there had been speculation in the media which suggested he could follow Sarri back to Seria A, with the Italian reportedly interested in a deal.
Reports in the media even suggested that Juventus had already approached Jorginho about an early summer transfer deal, believing that he would be very interested in making that move back to Italian football.
However, the Chelsea midfielder’s agent says Juventus’ sporting director Fabio Paratici has not been in touch, and has played down all the speculation linking the midfielderf with a move away from Stamford Bridge this coming window.
‘Juve are one of the top clubs in Europe, all players would like an experience there,’ Joao Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
‘But I didn’t hear from anyone, [Fabio] Paratici hasn’t call me.
‘Jorginho is currently a Chelsea player, has a three-year contract and is doing well in London.
Chelsea have confirmed that Olivier Giroud’s contract has been extended for another year, and both the player and Frank Lampard has reacted.
Tammy Abraham has proved himself to be a top Premier League striker, leading the clubs scoring charts in the Premier League this season, and rather than sit on the bench on a weekly basis, Giroud has shown a desire to depart the club for pastures new.
There was even speculation in the media that he was all set to leave the club during the January window, but with the Blues unable to sign a new striker, and Abraham picking up a serious injury, it meant that Lampard needed the Frenchman to stay put until at least the end of the season.
Report on THE TELEGRAPH reported that Chelsea have extended the contract of Giroud, although a deal was not yet announced.
However, just 24 hours after that news broke, Chelsea have come out and confirmed that Giroud has agreed a new contract with the club and will not be leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer window.
The Frenchman said on the Chelsea website: “I am delighted to continue my journey and adventure at Chelsea.
“I can’t wait to get back to playing and enjoying competitive football with my teammates.
“I’m looking forward to wearing the Chelsea shirt again, especially in front of our fans at a full Stamford Bridge, whenever it is safe to do so.”
Boss Frank Lampard added: “Since I have been back at Chelsea, Olivier has been brilliant as a professional and as a man in general.
“He has great qualities to help the squad both on and off the pitch, not only with his talent but with the example he sets every day and the experience he brings to our young squad.
“I am very pleased that will continue next season.”
