Frank Lampard announces ‘ we need to make use’ of defenders talent with deal on the horizon

Chelsea boss FRANK LAMPARD says his side must make more “use” of Reece James’ talent.

Former Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham may be the answer to the Blues attacking issues, but ask any Chelsea fan about which player they’re most excited about and nine times out of ten they’ll say James, and the 19-year-old James went from strength to strength last season and is now viewed as one of the best young English players around.

His performances for Wigan last season meant he was named Wigan’s Player of the Season and also featured in the Championship Team of the Year, and he has made a decent start to life back at the club,.

He has started the last few games for Chelsea as he seeks to nail down that number one spot, and despite not signing a new deal just yet, Lampard has admitted that he needs to use the talents of James more often after he once again impressed against Burnley at the weekend.

Lampard said on the Chelsea website: “He’s got a great, great delivery of cross and much more than that too.

“He’s good on the ball and he’s physically so good as well, and he’s so young, so this is just the start for him.

“The way I want us to play, the full-backs are going to be huge for us.

“If I want to get it right then they have to join in and be an attacking threat.

“And he certainly is for us, he’s a big weapon at the minute that we have to use well.

“We have to anticipate those crosses now, because they are coming in with a lot on them, there’s a lot of juice on those crosses now.

“And we have to be ready to anticipate and get across people and make goals like we did with the Tammy one today.”

The lad has the ability and potential to become one of the games best, but if he does not sign that deal soon, someone else may decide to swoop in and offer him a move away from the club?
