Declan answer given! Frank Lampard opens up and reveals transfer stance on Chelsea offer for £45 million midfielder
Frank Lampard has responded to the reports linking Chelsea have made an offer to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Rice has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League this season and his performances has led to all sorts of rumours that he will make the step up in the summer to a bigger club.
But it is Chelsea that are most keen to try and nail down the signature of Rice, as they seek to continue their summer of spending.
Chelsea have already generated plenty of headlines in the transfer market having sealed the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and now Lampard has asked the club to sign West Ham’s talisman Rice, the Sun recently claimed
It is believed that West Ham are asking big money for their best player, but the reports suggests that Chelsea are confident that they can sign up Rice for a fee of around £45 million.
However, despite all the speculation, Lampard has dismissed Chelsea’s link with West Ham’s Declan Rice.
‘Declan Rice is a good player, you’re right,’ said the Chelsea manager on Goal
‘I’ve known Declan Rice for a long time, he was at Chelsea’s academy. But there’s no talk. I keep saying that about every player we’ll be asked about until these games are finished, there’s nothing to say.’
Rice is a very good player that would suit the style of Chelsea, but there are many out there that firmly believe another midfielder is not needed at the club and for balance, Lampard needs to sign a defender or two.
Rice has a big future, but maybe that future is not at Chelsea in the coming seasons as there is alot of other transfer interest from the man from the other top teams in the Premier League.
But it will be interesting to see just who else Chelsea decide to make a transfer move for.
