You have been warned Callum! Frank Lampard sends Chelsea warning to £180,000-a-week star Hudson-Odoi
Frank Lampard has sent a warning to Callum Hudson-Odoi after the winger made his comeback in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
After his breakthrough season under Maurizio Sarri last season, there has been alot of transfer speculation regarding the future of the young man over the past few months as he constantly failed to agree a new contract, meaning the likes of Bayern Munich were keeping a very close eye.
But Chelsea believed that they could convince the young man to commit his long-term future with the club, and after months of negotiations and talks, they have finally come to an agreement and he has signed up.
It is believed that Hudson-Odoi has agreed a five-year deal worth around £180,000-a-week, and many now believe that he will become an integral part of the Chelsea side under the guidance of Frank Lampard.
Asked if it was good to see Hudson-Odoi back in action during the 7-1 smashing of Grimsby Town, Lampard said on the Sky Sports website: ‘Yeah of course. Firstly he has signed up, so that is good so that puts to bed everything else.
‘In terms of his performance, I thought first half not so sure. I thought him and Christian as wingers, the message was to hurt the line and run behind and end up in areas inside the box where you’re taking people on.
‘It wasn’t happening and that message didn’t get across because at half-time it had to be reinforced pretty strongly and in the second half we managed to get into better positions.
‘Callum’s talent means that he has to absolutely work hard to run behind people, to get at people, to be inside, to be outside and work off the ball and all those things.
‘That’s where he needs to learn because if he wants to play in the team week in and week out that is what he is going to have to do.’
Having Hudson-Odoi back playing in A Chelsea shirt has many fans happy, especially as he looked set to leave the club in the summer window. But the more he plays under Lampard the better he will adapt to how the Blues legend would like him to be in the coming months.
