Rice an upgrade on Kante, Werner and Lampard issue Chelsea announcements, Chilwell opens up on Silva and Lamps told to swap Kante for Rice in Chelsea roundup…
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice would be an ‘upgrade’ on N’Golo Kante for Chelsea, claimed Darren Bent.
It is no secret in the media that Chelsea are massive fans of Rice, they have been chasing him for the past 12 months and were expected to get a transfer deal over the summer window, if the Hammers did not stick a crazy price tag on the head of the midfielder.
However, with there still a couple of days before Chelsea will not be able to get any more deals done, there has been alot of speculation in the media that Kante could be on his way out of the club after reportedly falling out with boss Frank Lampard.
And it has been claimed that Chelsea may make a very late move to try and get a move done for Rice, and amid all the transfer speculation, Bent has opened up and suggested that the England midfielder would be a massive upgrade on Kante.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said: “For me, I think Declan Rice would be an upgrade.
“Not only because he can play that role really, really well, he can get about the pitch, has got good energy and can read the game but he can also drop into centre half, so that’s two positions he can play in.
“For someone like Kante, he has been superb but we’ve not seen him play in the role over the past season and a half so if they sell Kante and bring in Rice, I am all for that.”
Timo Werner has revealed that he idolised four Chelsea legends when he was growing up and Frank Lampard is on a mission to bring success back to the club.
After alot of transfer speculation towards the back end of the season last year, it was Chelsea that managed to secure a transfer deal to bring the exciting Werner to Stamford Bridge in a deal that is seen as a real bargain in the long run.
The German may not be firing the goals that fans expected, but Werner, 24, admitted the likes of Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech were an inspiration to him when he was a kid growing up in Stuttgart, Germany.
In an interview with club sponsor Three ,Werner he said: “When you come into the club they are working for the club and when you see them as a child, like 10, and then you see, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Petr Cech, you say wow it’s crazy I am here with them now. It’s a lot of fun.”
Meanwhile, boss Frank Lampard has insisted he is on a mission to bring success to Stamford Bridge.
Lampard spent some serious money in the transfer window to build a squad that is very capable of getting back inside the top four spots by the end of the season, although many are hoping that he manages to bring a bit of silverware to the cabinet.
And after a stuttering start to the new season, Lampard has opened up and told fans that he is looking to bring success back to the club, Speaking on the club website, he said: “I’ve completely engulfed my in this job and I want to bring success to this club.
“Coming back to Chelsea and receiving that reception that I did from the fans, you want to bring the supporters that success because they deserve it.
“So that’s what we are all working towards now.”
Ben Chilwell has hailed Thiago Silva’s immediate impact at Chelsea after his summer move to the club.
Frank Lampard was desperate to spend some money this summer and bring in a leader at the back, but he managed to save a big of cash and land Silva on a fresh transfer after he decided to leave PSG at the end of last season.
The Brazilian may be 33-years of age, but he brings experience, quality and leadership at the back that the club have been lacking for a good few seasons now, and Lampard knew that he needed to sign a player like Silva to help improve the clubs chances of winning that Premier League title.
Another transfer signing Chilwell has now opened up and announced that he is delight that Chelsea managed to secure a transfer deal for Silva, and has hailed the impact that the Brazilian has already had on this very youthful Blues squad.
Chilwell said on the Metro: “Ever since he came in the building, when he is in the room he has a presence about him.
“He makes everyone want to do well and standards will never slip, which they shouldn’t anyway.
“He demands quality and assures the whole team around him so it is great to have him in there with us, and he talks throughout the whole game.”
Chelsea have been told to swap N’Golo Kante for Declan Rice – because the West Ham midfielder can do more.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Rice for months now with reports constantly claiming that moves have been made, talks have been opened and bids have been rejected by the Hammers, who reportedly want a massive £80 million for the England man.
He is now one of the very best holding midfielders in the Premier League, and if you believe all the reports, he is the signing that Frank Lampard wants the most to finish off his summer of spending, which has topped £200 million.
And now they have been urged to get rid of Frenchman Kante and pay the money that will secure the services of Rice, as the Hammers midfielder will be able to offer that midfield more, that is the opinion of Adrien Durham anyways.
Chelsea have been forced to deny rumours of a falling out between Kante and manager Frank Lampard that emerged in France on Monday, after Le Parisien claimed Kante, 29, wants to quit the Blues after Lampard denied him permission to skip training for a friend’s wedding before the international break.
The talkSPORT presenter said: “They’ve been thinking about bringing in Declan Rice for a long, long time.
“If you sell Kante and bring in Rice, it’s a big upgrade.
“This is someone who can do Kante’s job, and go on the attack and use the ball quickly.
“Maybe not the Kante from yesteryear. What I’m looking at is a top side trying to do stuff in Europe and in the Premier League as well.
“Is Kante too limited? Rice does more than Kante – that’s what I’m saying.”
