Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews.
Ajax star David Neres has told the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United that he has no intention of leaving the Dutch Champions over the next few weeks.
With Arsenal seeking to get back inside the Champions League next season, Gunners boss Unai Emery has been eyeing up a number of possible deals for players that will improve the side, with a winger high up on the shopping list.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to get United back challenging for titles again next season and there has been a lot of speculation in the media that he wants another winger to come in and possible replace the departing Alexis Sanchez, who has been linked with a move away from the club.
And according to recent reports, both sides have reportedly been interested in the Brazilian for quite some time with the winger demonstrating his scoring abilities against Real Madrid and Juventus this season.
The talented 22-year old Neres has netted an impressive 19 assists in all competitions for the Ajax this season, as they sought to reach a Champions League finals against Liverpool
However, after Brazil beat Peru 3-1 in the Copa America final the 22-year-old, was quick to reaffirm his commitment to his current club and admitted that he has no intention of leaving the Dutch Champions this summer.
“I’m having a beer because I have something to celebrate,” he told Algemeen Dagblad.
“I have to be back at Ajax on July 28. My future is with Ajax.”
There has been some reports in the media which have suggested that Arsenal have agreed a €30m fee for defender William Saliba, according to RMC Sport’s journalist, Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Breaking into Saint-Etienne’s first-team in September, Saliba had an outstanding debut season in France and caught the attentions of the Premier League’s elite with his performances.
Gunners boss Unai Emery have been keeping close tabs on Saliba’s progress and reports this weekend claim that Arsenal are looking to hold talks over a possible deal for the centre-back.
Saliba, who is valued at around €30 million (£26m) by Saint-Etienne, has also impressed the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham over the past 12 months.
The Ligue 1 club are said to be open to selling the 18-year-old Frenchman this summer, but only if an interested club stumps up around €30m and then loans him back for the upcoming season.
And it seems that the Gunners have finally won the race to sign the promising 18-year-old, with Mohamed Bouhafsi claimibg that he has agreed to make the move to London, but not right now.
Manchester United and Arsenal are chasing Southampton’s Mario Lemina, who has admitted that he is seeking to leave the Saints this summer.
It has been a very unproductive season for United and Arsenal this summer, with the two clubs expected to do their big business over the coming weeks in order to build a side that is capable of winning the Premier League title.
And they have not both been alerted to a possible deal for Lemina, the 25-year-old who joined the Saints in 2017 for around £18 million, after he reportedly askes for a move away this summer.
“He has an agreement with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl that if the right offer came in, then he would be allowed to leave,” south coast correspondent Alex Crook said on the TalkSport website
“It hasn’t worked out for him at Southampton. There is a player in there and some of his performances have been really impressive, but you can count those on one hand.
“I think Ralph Hassenhuttl, as he looks to revamp his squad, just grew frustrated, certainly in the second half of last season that he was never fit and there was a feeling among the powers that be at Southampton that he was not working as hard as he could to get fit.
“What’s interesting is that when Atalanta tried to sign him last week – they wanted him on loan, but Southampton wanted to sell him and their asking price was around £15m. As you know, when Arsenal and Man United are interested that price goes up.”
