Brazilian tells Chelsea he wants to sign, Lampard has Abraham message, Hudson-Odoi has huge Chelsea update, seven-goal striker to sign big deal?
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icfootballnews.
Brazilian midfielder Willian has told Chelsea that he wants to sign a new contract with the club and help frank Lampard win the Champions League.
Willian was in the headlines all summer with speculation that he could in fact leave the club by the end of the transfer window, as he is coming towards the end of his current deal with Chelsea.
Like Eden Hazard was, Willian is out of contract at the end of the season and has so far failed to agree a new contract at the club, for many reported reasons, which has once again led to speculation that Barcelona are ready to swoop in and try to get a deal done.
But despite the fact that Talks are yet to begin between the 31-year-old and Chelsea chiefs over the possibility of extending his time at the club, Willian he is hopeful he can remain with the Premier League top-four contenders.
‘From my side, I want to stay,’ Willian told the Evening Standard.Evening Standard.Evening Standard.
‘I have one year left and I want to stay because I like to play for Chelsea. ‘I love this club, I love to live in London and my family loves it here. I have been here six years already so everything is perfect for me.
‘Of course [there is more I want to do at Chelsea], win the Champions League! I want to win more titles here, I want to play more games, to score more goals so everything that I can do, I will try hard to do.’
Chelsea boss Lampard heaped praise on striker Tammy Abraham following his hat-trick, with the striker continuing to repay his manager for his faith.
Chelsea were unable to buy any world class strikers during the summer transfer window, meaning that Lampard has had to put his faith in the younger players at the club as he hopes to get the club back to the very top of the game.
But so far the likes of Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount have proved to be pivotal for the Chelsea legend, and all three were on the scoresheet as the Blues romped to a 5-2 win over Wolves, with Abraham taking most of the headlines,
Lampard heaped praise on striker Tammy Abraham following his hat-trick, telling Sky Sports: “Tammy is [looking the part] and that’s work, having gone out on loan and scoring a lot of goals in the Championship, having a year in the Premier League and now I think he feels the responsibility of the Chelsea shirt as he should. The last three games speak for themselves.
“The only challenge for Tammy now is can he keep doing it? Can he get better and better because the way he’s playing, he’s a huge threat for us up front and there is competition within from [Olivier] Giroud and [Michy] Batshuayi so he needs to keep it at that level and get even better.”
Abraham has a long way to go and many more goals to score before he is considered one of the best strikers in the Premier League, but seven goals already this season means that he has got off to a great start.
Frank Lampard has suggested that Callum Hudson-Odoi may make his comeback from injury in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
Regarded as one the finest talents in the game, Hudson-Odoi has become one of the most talked about players at Chelsea since breaking through last season and many do see him as the idea man to take over from Eden Hazard.
The young man has been out with injury since the end of last summer, but started our development squad’s 2-1 win over Brighton in Premier League 2, with the winger completing an hour on the left flank.
He told the Chelsea websiteChelsea websiteChelsea website: ‘Callum is not far off but we have to be careful because it was a major injury. What we’ve done is actually get him back ahead of time but we have to make sure the strength is right in the area because it could lead to other injuries if we go too quickly.
‘We have the Carabao Cup coming up next midweek and that may give us opportunities to look at players who’ve been injured or some different options. In between that time, if Callum shows this week with how good he is in training, then I’ll have to consider him from now on.’
Odoi added: ‘I felt great,’
‘It’s good to be back at the Bridge and to play in front of a good crowd because it was a decent turnout.
‘I don’t feel any pain at the moment, no problems when I run with the ball so everything is good. My whole body feels good and now it’s about getting more match fitness, which comes from playing in games like this.’
Chelsea need to wrap up a new contract deal for striker Tammy ABraham after his brilliant performance at the weekend.
Abraham has taken all the headlines for all the right reasons over the past few weeks as his treble on Saturday saw him surge to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with seven goals, where he was subsequently joined by Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
It comes after a stunning season for Aston Villa last season in which he netted 26-goals for the Premier League side, and with the club still unable to sign any players, there is now talk that Chelsea want to end any possibility about the young mans signature and tie him down to a new contract at the club.
Lampard has clamoured for Abraham to be rewarded with a new deal in the same way he did for Mason Mount, and recent reports on the TalkSport claimed that Chelsea were ready to hand the young Englishman a big deal to sign.
The 21-year-old is currently the lowest earner in the Chelsea squad after Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek signed new contracts in the summer.
But after once again proving that he is more than capable of leading the Chelsea attack and scoring goals for fun, the urgency to sign him up to a new deal as the big clubs will now be circling for his signature, just like Callum Hudson-Odoi.
