PSG Chief Leonardo opens up and sends official message to Arsenal fans about Kurzawa deal
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have not held any talks over the future of Layvin Kurzawa, according to PSG sporting director Leonardo.
Now look, we all know that Mikel Arteta has been linked with all sorts of players over the past few weeks, as speculation increases in the media that he will delve into his transfer kitty and spend some serious money this transfer window.
However, that has not been the case and it has just become another frustrating transfer window for Gunners fans, who know that the club need to make some impact signings this month in order to get back into the Champions League hunt.
And with reports even suggesting that Arteta will not look to sign many players this month, it does seem that the Spaniard is planning for next season, as RMC have come out and claimed that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing the PSG star for nothing at the end of the season.
The 27-year old is a constant fixture in the French giants side, but has been unable to agree a new contract, and with the players deal running our at the end of the season, he is free to open talks about a possible exit in the summer.
However, Leonardo appears to have quelled those hopes for now, saying that a move is a long way from happening.
‘For the moment we have not had any discussions with Arsenal for Layvin Kurzawa,’ Leonardo told French publication RMC.
Manager Thomas Tuchel spoke ahead of that game of his desire to keep hold of the France international as key back-up to first choice left-back Juan Bernat.
‘I haven’t spoken with Layvin or anyone else about his departure this winter,’ said the PSG boss.
‘Layvin is number two behind [Juan] Bernat in the left-back position. ‘We need him and Layvin will play [Sunday] against Lorient. He has played well recently.’
