Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers sends Arsenal clear message about Emirates job
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has sent Arsenal a clear message about taking over at the Emirates.
Unai Emery was brought to the club just a few seasons ago to take the Arsenal into a new era, a different way of playing from the way Arsene Wenger played the game, and was brought in to get the club challenging for that Premier League title once again.
But despite being given a decent amount of money and despite a number of backings from the Arsenal hierarchy, the Spaniard has failed to deceive over the last 12 months and he finally got the sack, which has delighted many Arsenal fans.
And that has led to speculation in the media that Arsenal are lining up an ambitious move for Rodgers, who has turned this Leicester side into one of the best in the Premier League with his top-class management skills.
But Rodgers insists he is “very happy” to continue at Leicester and questioned why he would leave the Foxes right now, telling the Sky Sports website: “I have a contract here until 2022 and thus far – and I know managers are losing their jobs – but the club have not indicated to me that they are going to sack me.
“I think they’re pretty happy with how we are working and like I said, I’m very happy, and I have no reason to look elsewhere.
“I think logic would tell you – I know in your job it’s not always logical, there’s gossip and speculation – but why would I want to leave Leicester City, at this moment in time.”
Arsenal now know that Emery was not the right man to lead this Arsenal side, and getting rid of him was a great decision by the Arsenal board. But they need to be careful about whom they appoint, as the wrong man could cause even more damage then the Spaniard has.
Rodgers would have been a great choice, but he is right, why would he leave now?
