Sorry Man United as midfielder Lemina ‘would prefer’ summer move to join Arsenal?
Mario Lemina has suggested that he would prefer a summer move to Arsenal rather than one to Manchester United.
This transfer window has been a very frustrating one for both United and Arsenal, as they have so far been unable to acquire the type of players that would help improve the squad.
Arsenal remain in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer following the departure of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus and have been linked with Southampton’s Lemina.
It is believed that the Saints are willing to let the midfielder leave this summer for a fee of around £15 million, which is a few million less than what they paid to acquire his services a few seasons ago.
And he has suggested that he would willing to join the Gunners this season, when he was asked if he would prefer to join a club in the Champions League, Lemina replied on the TalkSport website: ‘It’s a bonus. If I have the opportunity to play this season, why not, but I’m really trying to regain consistency, become an important player in a team with high goals.
‘I need to play. That’s really my priority. I want to show everyone what I can do.’
He added: ‘It’s sure to be a very interesting championship, ‘The best for me would be to stay there, but I do not close the door to any club or country. Today, after four months of injury, I do not target anything in particular. I aspire to play for the biggest clubs, now we will see what I will be offered.
‘I had chosen to leave Juventus for Southampton to have more playing time, I got it. I made a good impression in England, I had good returns at a certain time, so I hope clubs will not have a short memory!’
Lemina has been in decent form for the Saints over the past 12 months and for the right price, he could add something different to both the United and Gunners fans.
So if he is interested in making that step up to play for one of the Premier League big boys, then a move to the Emirates or Old Trafford could be a great move for him, especially for the £15 million that the Saints reportedly want.
