OFFICIAL Chelsea announcement made – French International moves!
Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has completed a season-long loan move to Premier League side Southampton, as the Frenchman looks to get some game time under his belt.
The 20-year-old is a player that CHELSEA had big plans for when he was brought to the club, but despite working with some of the best coaches in the world, he has not quite been able to make any impact on that Blues side.
The France international joined last summer but an injury saw him miss the bulk of his debut campaign. In pre-season he scored against Inter Milan and he now looks set to receive regular Premier League minutes with the Saints securing his services for the upcoming season.
Chelsea posted on the club website: ‘ Lesley, 20, joined the Blues last summer from Rennes and featured on 15 occasions during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
The France Under-21 international was part of the first-team squad for our summer tour of the USA, scoring against Wrexham, before also netting in our pre-season friendly against Inter Milan.
Lesley will now continue his development with the Saints, who secured a return to the Premier League last season under Russell Martin.
We look forward to monitoring and supporting Lesley’s development throughout his loan at St Mary’s.

The lad was signed with big hopes by the board – but he has not been able to live upto the hype that he came with – he couldnt handle playing for such a big club like CHELSEA at such a young age.
This loan move is the right decision to make – he needed to leave the Blues and get some game time – but unfortunately it could also mean that the next few seasons could be him moving around on loan – he has a massive contract and until he is ready for Chelsea – he will constantly be sent out on loan.
