Roy Keane has claimed Manchester United should target Harry Kane and Jack Grealish this summer if they are to mount a Premier League title challenge next season.
Despite Reaching that Europa League final and probably finishing second in the Premier League this season, United are well off the quality of Manchester City and will need to invest in the summer to close that gap.
And that has led to reports that the club will make a move for Kane, who is looking to win trophies and topped to leave Spurs, and Grealish, who is now ready to make that next step in his career.
WHAT HAS KEANE SAID?
He told Sky Sports: “The two players who I’ve thought about over the last few weeks who I feel would be brilliant for Man United are Harry Kane up front – whatever it costs – and I’d go with Jack Grealish. I feel United are still short of that special player. I think Grealish would give them that and I feel he would enjoy playing at Old Trafford.
“The fans would love him. What I admire about Jack is that he’s got great courage on the football pitch. He always wants the ball in tight areas. We’ve seen over the last year or two his end product has improved. He’s an excellent player and obviously Kane would guarantee goals.
“Would it be difficult to get these two players? You bet your life it would be, but Man United have to go out and try to sign the best otherwise we’ll be having the same conversations next year about being nearly there. Jack would be ready for Man United. He’s done well for Aston Villa, a brilliant club who are doing very well, but Jack’s got to be selfish.”
If Bayern Munich sell striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, it would be to a Premier League club, which will alert the likes of Manchester United .
It is no secret that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is lacking a goal-scorer up top that has the ability to find the net on a regular basis, as his strikers have not scored the amount of goals that he would have liked this season
And there has been a whole list of players already linked with a move to the Premier League giants, and Lewandowksi is one of them.
The 32-year-old remains one of the deadliest goalscorers in the world, netting 36 goals in the Bundesliga in just 26 appearances this campaign while also carrying a heavy workload in the Champions League.
Lewandowski’s current Bayern contract runs until 2023, but his agent is pushing for a renewal to be agreed for him to stay at Bayern for the next few seasons, but no deal has been sorted just yet.
But despite the speculation that he could end up in France or La Liga, Lewandowski’s next destination might be in England, as SportBild claims the striker’s agent will apply pressure on Bayern Munich to either put together a lucrative contract extension or sell him to a team that can afford his wages, likely in the Premier League.
There are only a handful of clubs in world football that would be able to pay his wages right now, most of them in the Premier League, so if he does leave Bayern in the summer, there will surely be a big scramble to get his services signed.
Polo Maldini has told the likes of Manchester United that they have paused contract talks with stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma
Regarded as one of the finest young stoppers in world football right now, Donnarumma has fully-established himself over in Italy as a man that has the ability to go on and become one of the best goal-keepers ever to grace the game.
However, there has been alot of rumours in the media over the past few months about his future, as he is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to leave Milan and join United, or anybody else who is interested in a potential deal.
But with many Milan fans hoping a deal can be struck sooner rather than later, Maldini has now admitted that any contract talks for his top players will be put on hold until the end of the season, giving a clear indication that Donnarumma is leaving the club
“It is important to reiterate firmly that no one outside Milan can decide who plays and who renews,” the 52-year-old told ANSA. “Choices regarding the pitch are down to the coach, while the club is in charge of contractual issues.
“From this moment, every single negotiations for new contract extension is on hold until the end of the season so that the team can focus on the pitch. Meantime, we’ll continue to protect our players as we have always done.”
Look, we are massive fans of the young Italian and firmly believe he could add 20 points to United next season, so if he is on his way out of Milan, United should make sure that they are the ones to complete a deal.
Davide De Gea is not the same stopper he was while Dean Henderson has alot to prove, Donnarumma is a man that could be the clubs number one for the next 10-15 years
Fresh reports have claimed Manchester United will try and sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid should Paul Pogba leave the club.
Pogba has endured form and fitness problems across a second spell with the Red Devils, but his ability remains without question and he can be a match-winner on his day.
United have always maintained that they have no intention of letting the Frenchman leave the club at any stage during his time in Manchester, despite all the rumours that he wants out and wants that move to Real Madrid
United will open talks with Paul Pogba about a new £400,000-a-week contract this month, according to the Sunday Mirror, and The paper says they are willing to make the Frenchman the club’s highest-paid player to keep him at Old Trafford for another four years.
But they are also prepared to sell him midfielder this summer if he threatens to run down the final 12 months of his current deal and are reportedly ready to pay big money to sign Niguez.
Niguez is regarded as one of the finest midfielders in world football right now, and any fee that United would pay would be close to that £100 million mark as Atletico will not want to let one of their star players leave the club.
Either way, United appear keen to make sure the £89m man does not walk away for nothing – and if he does leave in the summer, any fee that they raise from his sale will go towards investing in Niguez.
Edwin van der Sar is leaving the door open for a return to Manchester United to be made.
Chief Executive Ed Woodward is stepping down from his role at the club after the Super League fiasco was announced just a few days ago, and Various candidates are being mooted to follow in his footsteps, with Van der Sar among those to have seen a move to Manchester mooted.
Van der Sar has told ESPN of the speculation linking him with United: “It’s nothing new for me, my name circulates there for a long time.”
He added on his future, with nothing being ruled out at this stage: “[With] the work and pressure, you should have a feeling with the club.
“I could do the things Ronald de Boer is doing – he works for us at Ajax and also here for you guys. He has more freedom than me, he has a good life.
“The pressure is different and I won’t work at a club where I don’t have a feeling. I could only do this for Ajax or United. I would not work for any other clubs.
“I am really happy with how we have [developed] Ajax in the last couple of years. We had ambitions 10 years ago to reach the top of Europe. We have reached that. We had to work really hard, we don’t have a rich owner and the government didn’t help us.”
For now, he is fully focused on his role in Amsterdam and a desire to finish “in a perfect way” when the day does come to take on a new challenge.
He added: “A European prize is something that triggers me.”
