Ligue 1 star has made decision about joining Arsenal this transfer window
Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet has turned down the chance to join ARSENAL, according to reports in France as he reportedly wants to stay in Ligue 1 and continue his development.
After failing to win that Premier League title, or get into another Champions Legaue final, Mikel Arteta has seen his Arsenal side spend some serious money this transfer window improving all areas of the pitch.
The likes of Valencia centre-half Cristhian Mosquera completed a £13m switch to the Emirates last month, Kepa joined from Chelsea earlier in the transfer window, Noni Maduake also joined from the Blues and Viktor Gyokeres made the move just a few days ago.
But the ARSENAL’ hierarchy, spearheaded by new sporting director Andrea Berta, are determined to further bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad by signed a new central defender, before the deadline.
And there has been some claims that the Gunners have been interested in signing Jacquet from Rennes, after the young defender impressed the Gunners scouts, but it seems that he will not be making a move to the Emirates.
But French publication Foot Mercato claim Arsenal’s pursuit has come to nothing, with Jacquet opting to decline a proposed transfer to north London in order to continue his development at Roazhan Park.
And Rennes also have no intention of losing Jacquet, who is tied into a contract until June 2029.
IcFootballnews Says…
The lad is talented, joining a massive team like ARSENAL would be an amazing opportunity, but at this stage of his career, he does not need to make the move and it is the right decision to stay put.
He has a long career in the game, and a move to the Emirates would mean more bench time, less development and a waste of time until he is ready, so he may aswell stay put
