£30M midfielder has ‘every right’ to keep Moyes waiting – after being offer monster contract
Former West Ham striker Dean Ashton has told West Ham fans that Jese Lingard has ever right to take his time over a decision on his next club
This summer he has become a free agent after failing to agree a new contract with the Red Devils – as he wants to join a club that will give him the game time that he desires at this stage of his career
There has been alot of interest from Premier League sides over a possible deal for the midfielder – but stunningly – it has been claimed that a move to the MLS is one that could actually happen.
However -amid that speculation that he has not yet decided where he will be playing his football for next season – and amid the reports Nottingham Forest have offered him a massive contract offer – Ashton has claimed that Lingard has every right to take his time on his next decision
He said: “I thought Jesse Lingard’s move to West Ham would have happened quite quickly and I’m surprised it has gone on as long as it has.
“He did incredibly well when he came in on loan and I thought he would see this as another great opportunity to play at a club that would clearly love to have him; he gets on well with the players, he knows what the manager wants and I’m sure the contract West Ham would be putting on the table would be pretty darn good.
“He’d be playing European football in a side hopefully challenging for Champions League football again and so I thought it would just happen.
“I don’t know whether it’s his wage demands or West Ham maybe not giving him the reassurances he wants.
“But Nottingham Forest have really surprised me that they have nipped in and look like they could take him to the City Ground.
“He has every right to take his time. This is a big contract for him at the age he is at and it is down to the football clubs to persuade him to come to their club.”
