Manchester United fans have been told £35 million rated midfielder to be at Old Trafford this January

Manchester United fans have been told that Jesse Lingard is set to stay at Old Trafford until at least the summer.

Lingard is currently out of favour at Manchester United and his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, where there are a number of clubs interested in a transfer deal

The 29-year-old was told by former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he would feature regularly for the side this season, but he started just once under the Norwegian before he was sacked in November.

Lingard’s fortunes have not improved under Ralf Rangnick, who has also started the midfielder only once since replacing Solskjaer, and now there has been reports that he could leave the club this transfer window.

However, Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Lingard will probably stay at Old Trafford until at least the end of the season, he told Sky Sports: “It’s looking increasingly likely Jesse Lingard will see out his contract until the summer because if you do that, you are a free agent and you’ve got your choice of any European club that might want to do a pre-contract agreement with you, and, of course, any Premier League club who would be interested as well.

“As far as Lingard himself is concerned, when he came back after that successful loan spell with West Ham, I think he was given some sort of assurance by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he was in his plans, and it hasn’t transpired that way.

“He hasn’t started a Premier League game this season. He’s played 11 minutes of Premier League action under Ralf Rangnick.

“I just wonder whether Man Utd would want to sell him to West Ham, simply because if you look at the premier League table, West Ham are direct rivals to Man Utd for the top four.”
