£180,000-a-week star is very close to sealing deal with Liverpool and ending speculation
Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle over a new contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold worth more that £55million, sources have told Football Insider.
LIVERPOOL have been doing alot of business over the last couple of transfer windows adding players to the side that will help get the club challenging for titles once again, but they are also keen to keep hold of some of their biggest players.
Alexander-Arnold has been criticized for many of his defensive displays during his time at the club , but that doesnt hide the fact that he is still one of the very best players in his position.
And now it seems that he is closing in on a new contract at Liverpool after the decision was made to open contract talks with the England International. The Fooball Insider says: ‘Liverpool have made significant progress on a new long-term deal for the defender, whose current agreement expires in 2025.
‘Clubs chiefs have been working alongside the player’s camp and are now completing the final elements of the deal, which is expected to be signed and announced soon.
‘It comes at a time when the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group has sold a minority stake in Liverpool to the US private equity firm Dynasty Equity for an unspecified sum of £82million-£164m.’
TV presenter Paul Machin has suggested that he can easily see Alexander-Arnold spending his whole career at Anfield as he’s Liverpool through and through.
“Alexander-Arnold is LIVERPOOL through and through. He is vice captain, he is heir apparent to the Liverpool captain. He is just a brilliant footballer. He’s loved, he’s a family orientated guy as well.
‘The only thing I think that would stop him from maybe seeing his entire career at Liverpool is maybe seeking a new challenge at some point down the road, but honestly, yeah, I could easily see Alexander-Arnold being a one-club man.”
