Arsenal, Liverpool Tuesday! Bailey Premier League offer, Malcom-swap deal, Pepe eyes Gunners
Here is a roundup of all todays Liverpool and Arsenal news, gossip and transfer news.
Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey has admitted Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United were all interested in a deal over the summer.
The 21-year-old is one of the most promising young forwards in Europe and was wanted by several top clubs in the summer after having another impressive campaign for the Germans.
The Premier League trip seemed to show the most interest in trying to nail down a deal for Bailey though, and reportedly all made offers during the summer transfer window to try and bring him to the Premier League in a deal that could have been close to the £100 million mark.
But Bailey, who is still making a name for himself in the game, explained it was not the right time to make such a big move and opted to sign a big contract in the summer to commit his long-term future with the club.
‘But the most important thing as a pro is taking things a step at a time and not rushing to the top too quickly. Because once you get there, where do you go next?
‘I believe the right timing is important, and it was the right moment to be at Bayer Leverkusen. They are a tremendous club with so much history.
‘A lot of good players have come from there; they can get into the Champions League and are always doing well. So why not them? ‘It was the perfect move for me and I’m happy I made it. My focus isn’t really on moving anywhere yet.
‘I’m just about what’s happening right now rather than what could happen in the future. I’m still learning.’ (Read full article)
It was no secret in the summer transfer window that Willian was open to a move away from Chelsea, as the Brazilian was seemingly not happy with the lack of game time he received during Antonio Conte’s final few months at the club.
And the Catalan giants attempted to sign the Brazilian over the summer in a bid to freshen up their squad, but after weeks of rumours the Spaniards decided against matching his £70m asking price set by Chelsea.
However, with the January transfer window just a few months away, La Sexta has claimed Barcelona have not given up hope of adding Willian to their star-studded squad and are now ready to make a fresh move in the winter window.
It has even been suggested that the player’s agents have met with Barcelona to discuss the likelihood of a deal, and to sweeten any potential business with Chelsea, the Spaniards are also ready to include the unhappy Malcom as part of the deal.
Barca paid £36 million to acquire the services of Malcom just a few months ago in hope that he could add something to the squad, but they have not been impressed by his impact and are reportedly open to the idea of letting him leave, with both Arsenal and Spurs interested. (Read full article)
Lille striker Nicolas Pepe is reportedly open to the idea of signing for the likes of Arsenal, but not in the January transfer window.
Despite spending over £70 million in the summer transfer window, Gunners boss Unai Emery still has a lot of work to do if he wants to transform his current Arsenal side into a top four side and is expected to delve into the kitty in the winter window to continue his rebuilding of the side.
And reports on Telefoot have claimed Emery has been alerted to the potential of Pepe after some impressive performances this season and is ready to make a move this January
There is some concern to the long-term future of Alexandre Lacazette.
Despite his strong start to the new season, Lacazette is still seen as the second striker to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which has led to speculation that he could decide to pack his bags and leave at the end of the season, with a return to France his preferred destination.
Pepe is valued at roughly £30m (A$54m) and is seemingly open to the idea of leaving and signing for a big club, at the end of the season, telling Telefoot: ‘A preference between Dortmund, Bayern or Arsenal? They’re all big clubs, I was not aware of these rumours, although it’s nice,’
‘Leave Lille at the end of the season? We do not even know what I’ll be doing tomorrow!’ (Read full article)
