Liverpool backed to sign £100M man – Reds expect to sign Frenchman – Klopp ready for Liverpool battle

Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –

LIVERPOOL are ready to battle Tottenham for the signature of Wolfsburg star Micky Van de Ven.

Liverpool have been poor defensively this season and conceded far too many goals for the quality that they have in that back-line.

Liverpool stars Joe Gomez and Joal Matip started together on the Premier League’s final day, conceding four times in a 4-4 draw with relegated Southampton, and showed that without Virgil Van Dijk they are a mess at the back.

The Merseysiders have also been credited with an interest in highly-rated centre-back duo Josko Gvardiol and Goncalo Inacio – but it seems that they are moving elsewhere or staying put.

Tottenham have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race for Micky van de Ven. It is rumored the Dutch Under-21 international was the latest name on Spurs’ shortlist. As they look to strengthen their defensive options under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Now reports on the football insider have claimed that Liverpool are ready to battle Tottenham for the signature of the big defender.

Speaking of LIVERPOOL‘s interest Micky told Voetball international;

“Of course I heard of the Liverpool links and I know they’ve been following me in the past,” he told Voetbal International.

“That’s it. Of course, Liverpool is a great club. “There’s a chance for me to leave this summer. If a nice club with good plan arrives… I’d be open.”

his agent recently addressed all the speculation: “Micky has played a fantastic season,” Jose Fortes Rodriguez told WAZ.

“There are many clubs that are interested. It would be stupid to say now that he will definitely stay in Wolfsburg. Anything can happen this summer.

“A player like Micky, who has developed so well – the calls from the clubs come automatically.

‘I am asked: ‘What is the situation? Do we have a chance?’ As I said, anything can happen this summer. It could be that he leaves. But if the right club doesn’t come along, why shouldn’t Micky stay in Wolfsburg?”

Thuram to sign?

LIVERPOOL are closing in on signing Nice star Khephren Thuram as talks continue, it has been claimed in the media.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows that his current side are not good enough to compete with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and possibly Chelsea for that Premier League title next season.

He knows that he needs to add some more quality to the squad – some more depth and freshness – and that had les to rumours that the exciting Thuram is a man that the club are interested in.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the south of France and earned a call-up to the senior national team as well as a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.

Now the Football Insider have claimed The star wants the move and the Reds are pushing hard to secure a full agreement and sources have said Liverpool now expect to complete a deal for Thuram.

According to journalist Neil Jones, Thuram is the likeliest to arrive at Anfield.

He recently told CaughtOffside, Jones said: “The signing of Alexis Mac Allister may be done and dusted, but midfield remains a priority for Liverpool in this summer’s transfer market.

“Mac Allister is a significant signing to strengthen Jurgen Klopp’s options, but it’s never been a secret that the club ideally wanted two or even three new signings in that position.

“Obviously Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone have been mentioned. From my understanding, Thuram is the likeliest out of those – the profile of him, his physique, his age, and the club he’s playing at, the kind of money that would be involved – I think he perfectly fits the bill.

“It remains to be seen how willing Nice are to let him go, and I think the fact that there looks like a number of midfield players likely to move soon in this market means that Nice might just be waiting to see the how the dominos fall, and what kind of price they can get for him.

“Still, I think LIVERPOOL and Thuram, even if it hasn’t moved much in the last seven days and a fee hasn’t yet been agreed, he’s definitely been identified as someone Liverpool want.”

Barella claim made –

Stevie Nicol has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to sign Nicolo Barella from Serie A giants Inter this summer.

Liverpool have had one of the their worst seasons under Jurgen Klopp and need to freshen up that squad in the coming months.

That has led to so many transfer reports in the media lining the Reds with a number of possible targets – as Klopp wants certain types if players at the club.

Liverpool have been named as one of three Premier League clubs looking to sign Inter ace Nicolo Barella, with reports in Italy claiming that the Reds are prepared to make an offer.

It is said that while Nerazzurri boss Simone Inzaghi remains a fan of Barella, financial issues at the club may leave Inter open to a sale, and while a Champions League club is thought to appeal to Barella, the Reds are seen as a positive destination for the Italy star this summer.

And given that Nicolo Barella has just competed in the Champions League final with Inter, Nicol has said he would be a ‘great’ and ‘fantastic’ signing for his former club after it was told a deal is possible, as he told ESPN.

“He would be great for Liverpool,” said Nicol. “Talking about fitting the profile of Liverpool at their best in the middle of the park. He would be fantastic.”

LIVERPOOL will continue to be linked with so many players over the next few months as there will surely be alot of transfer activity coming in and out of Anfield

Barella is a very good player that would add something different to the squad and it will be interesting to see if the Reds actually make a move.
