Liverpool have stunning been backed to complete the signing of Everton star Jarrod Branthwaite this summer, a player that Manchester United have been linked with over the past few months.

Branthwaite was one of the shining lights of a torrid 2023/24 season at Goodison Park as he returned from a loan spell at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven to start 35 of a possible 38 games in the Premier League last season.

His performances for Everton last season led to many reports that Man United were keen on the player, but the Red Devils opted to sign Leny Yoro and Matthijs De Ligt rather than pay the £80 million to sign Branthwaite.

Now LIVERPOOL have been backed to sign the defender and Steve Freeth from Bet365 explained why the Reds are favourites: “It’s been a busy weekend on the Jarrad Branthwaite front culminating in a crazy few hours with odds compilers being kept busy on Sunday night as Liverpool claimed favouritism from Everton before they wrestled back that mantle after a surge of interest in him staying on the blue side of Stanley Park as I went to bed with my head spinning.

“Prior to the weekend we had Branthwaite at 1/6 to still be an Everton player at the end of the window with Manchester United at 6/1 and Liverpool at 10/1, but on Friday night there were a number of bets at 10/1 and 8/1 and then on Saturday evening more of the same before the plunge on Sunday night when the 7/2 was gobbled up and then punters were banging on the door to take the 6/4 about a move to Anfield.

“We reacted by making him 4/5 to be a Liverpool player with Everton at 6/4 and at that stage the pendulum swung for him to stay at Goodison with us finally settling on 2/5 that he stays and 2/1 he joins LIVERPOOL with both options being backed.

“I have to say I’m none the wiser!”
