Reds fans will not love this after Premier League icon claims Liverpool could finish fourth this season, and heres why!

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has voiced his concerns over Liverpool’s lack of business in the transfer market.

Liverpool have been linked to all sorts of players this transfer window as the club seek to regain that Premier League title, but so far Jurgen Klopp has not done the transfer business that many expected him too.

And after seeing Liverpool fail to make any real signings, Merson says that he could easily see Liverpool only just making the top four in the Premier League, highlighting the lack of depth behind the frontline options.

Speaking in his Sky Sports column, Merson offered his view on what Liverpool need. “I think they need to buy someone.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the finished fourth this season, and I thought that before this game. It’s the same team, and they have a massive amount of players who have to play every week.

“Virgil van Dijk can’t get injured. The full-backs can’t get injured. They haven’t got anyone to replace the front three if they’re injured.

“If Man City get injuries, they’ll just play: ‘We’ll score more goals than you’ anyway. What we’ll see later in the season is teams like Man City come into the fold massively, because their squad is too big.

“That’s why I worry about Liverpool, there’s five or six players who must play week in, week out, otherwise the team is weakened immensely.”

It is insane that Liverpool have not added to that world class attack, especially with Roberto Firmino struggling already. But there is many weeks to go for Liverpool to get their transfer business done.
