Liverpool fans see £100M man sign up – Slot to make Januaru signings – Liverpool told cash in on Worldie

Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed…

Newcastle winger and LIVERPOOL target Anthony Gordon has signed a new long-term contract to end any uncertainty over a possible move away from St James’ Park.

Gordon has had a decent season with Newcastle this season and impressed for the Toon – but with all the speculation that Mohamed Salah could depart LIVERPOOL at some point in the near future  – Gordon has been linked with a shock move to Merseyside.

Newcastle had no interest in selling one of their star players, but faced a fight to convince Gordon to stay at St. James’ Park with so many rumours in the media linking him with a big money love to Liverpool

Signed from Everton in January 2023, the 23-year-old – who was linked with Liverpool over the summer – has become a key part of Eddie Howe’s squad, scoring 15 goals and claiming 11 assists in 74 appearances.

However – it has now been revealed that he has agreed a new contract with the Toon that seemingly ends all the speculation about his future – Speaking about his renewed commitment, Gordon said: “I just think the club’s in a great place. Since the takeover it’s just been up and up. Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play. I love it here.

“I’m very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me – and I’m here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy.

“Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine.”

If Liverpool now want Gordon – they will have to pay some serious money after this latest development – it is massive that he is staying at the club.

It is the right decision too – he is playing the best football of his career and all Toon fans will surely be happy

LIVERPOOL TOLD TO SELL ALEXANDER-ARNOLD –

Former Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson has urged Arne Slot to cash in on Trent-Alexander Arnold in January if Real Madrid offer a sizable amount for the England International defender.

LIVERPOOL have been doing alot of business over the last couple of transfer windows adding players to the side that will help get the club challenging for titles once again, but they are also keen to keep hold of some of their biggest players.

Alexander-Arnold has been criticized for many of his defensive displays during his time at the club , but that doesnt hide the fact that he is still one of the very best players in his position.

The England star has been the subject of much speculation amid rumours of a new contract at Anfield and interest from Real Madrid, but it seems that the decision has already been made on his immediate future.

Now -amid all the speculation – LIVERPOOL have been encouraged to cash in on the star – When asked if the Merseyside club should consider selling Alexander-Arnold, Johnson told Betfred: “Yes, absolutely. They’d have been having talks that we’re not aware of for sure because you can’t allow players to get so far into their contract when they’re so valuable.

‘It would be a complete head loss to let him go for free. Nobody wants to see him leave, but you may as well cash in because they know something’s going on already. I don’t know if Trent wants to leave or the club are happy for him to leave, but it would be stupid for Liverpool to not cash in if he is going to leave when his contract expires.”

He added: “You never want to lose your best players, but I don’t know if it would make much of a difference to LIVERPOOL if he leaves in January or at the end of the season if he was planning to leave the club.

‘It would have an impact overall because you never want to see your best players go and you don’t want to let them go.’

SLOT TO MAKE JANUARY SIGNINGS –

Jamie Carragher believes LIVERPOOL will make a signing in the January transfer window after their very impressive start to the new Premier League season under boss Arne Slot.

Arne Slot’s team currently sit top of the Premier League table after eight games and hold a one-point lead over Manchester City in second.

The Reds were in a similar position last season, with a potential quadruple on the cards to mark Jurgen Klopp’s exit in style, but fell off in the latter stages of the season.

Slot failed to sign all the players that he needed over the course of the summer window, which surprised many in the media, but the January window is just around the corner and it will give the Dutch boss his chance to keep on improving and adding to his side.

And Carragher is now tipping his former side to be active in the winter window in a bid to avoid a similar situation this time around – He said: “They’re very much pushing [to win the Premier League title], as they were last season. We shouldn’t forget that.

“They haven’t reinforced. It’ll be really interesting to see if Liverpool do bring anyone in in January. They didn’t bring too much in in the summer.

“And if they think they’ve got a realistic chance at the title and there’s a player that they feel fits their criteria, their model, I think they’ll pay the money to bring that player in.”

This Liverpool side under Slot is looking very solid and impressive already this season, but a couple of injuries could really scupper the good start to the new season and new faces will need to be signed.

LIVERPOOL have the players right now to keep up with Man City and Arsenal – but depth will play a big part by the end of the campaign that is for sure.

It will just be interesting to see what players he manages to sign.
