Liverpool told to sign£150 million Barcelona star, Souness has summer transfer message and PSG ready to sell Liverpool target Draxler
Liverpool told to sign Griezmann, Sounness has transfer message, PSG to sell Draxler in Liverpool news roundup….
Stan Collymore says Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann would help Liverpool push on ahead of the new season.
There has been some shock reports in the media over the past few days which have suggested that Griezmann could be on the transfer market after Lionel Messi decided that he would be staying at Barcelona this summer.
And that has led to reports in the media that Liverpool may be interested in trying to secure a transfer deal to bring the French superstar to the side, although Jurgen Klopp has not done much transfer business this summer.
But Former Reds striker Collymore believes that the Liverpool players may start to begin questioning if they can move forward without any major incomings, and highlights Griezmann as the sort of signing that could push them forward.
“Kop fans must be very concerned that Liverpool have made no big-name signings this summer,” Collymore told the Mirror.
“Where are the players whose arrivals would make the dressing-room sit up and think: ‘We’d better push ourselves even more this season because the gaffer is getting serious’?
“Even with reinforcements it would be very difficult for the Reds to match last season’s form; without them it would be almost impossible.
“Don’t get me wrong, we know the title-winners have an excellent mentality, so of course they will be competitive once again. Under boss Jurgen Klopp, that’s practically a given.”
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has a ‘sneaky feeling’ Jurgen Klopp could have a busier end to the transfer window than may expect.
Klopp has made just one signing so far in this window, bringing in left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos for just under £12million, but the club have been linked wot a whole host of players over the past few weeks.
And the pundit reckons there could still be a big signing before the window shuts on October 5, as he will need to get his squad improved to regain that Premier League title by the end of the season
“I think it’s telling you something,” Souness told Sky Sports.
“I think Jurgen must feel he’s got players coming through the system to fill the gaps when the current players get injured.
“Going back to my time as a player there, Liverpool always bought players when they were on top of the pile.
“You were buying players at that time where you don’t know if they’ll come in and be an instant hit.
“I think in recent history Fabinho and Andy Robertson were both that where they got them into the club, had a good look at what they had to offer, they fitted into the system nicely when they got introduced.
“So I think that would be a real vote of confidence to the young players at the football club if they don’t buy.
“But I have a sneaky feeling that they may still have a go at someone.”
Sky Sports News reporter Bryan Swanson has claimed that PSG would consider selling Liverpool target Julian Draxler.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not done alot of transfer business this summer and will need to push ahead with transfer deals in the coming weeks after seeing his rivals make big signings.
Chelsea will be a force this season, Manchester City have improved in key areas, even Manchester United are getting their business done, but Liverpool are being left behind a bit in terms of signings.
However, there are now reports in the media that one of their long-term targets, Draxler could be on the market this transfer window as the French gianst would reportedly consider selling the midfielder to get his wages off the bill.
Sky Sports News reporter Bryan Swanson said: “Speaking to a few contacts this afternoon, PSG would consider selling Julian Draxler in this window given his lack of game time last season and his high salary.
“But the latest information that we have is that there haven’t been any formal offers or declarations of interest from any Premier League clubs in relation to Draxler. Clearly, that could well change as we go into the final few weeks of the window.
Liverpool need to add something different to their midfield ahead of the new season, and although their interest in Draxler has been constant over the season, it would be a surprise to see them make a move now.
But the news that he could be on the market could appeal to a number of clubs in the Premier League
