Boss tells Arne Slot Liverpool must pay £84M to sign in-demand target!
Sporting boss Ruben Amorim has admitted any club interested in signing LIVERPOOL linked Viktor Gyokeres must stump up the €100million (£84m) release clause in the player’s contract.
Swede Gyokeres has been a major hit in Portugal since joining Sporting from Coventry in July 2023 and become one of the most dangerous strikers in World football, hitting 43 goals for the club last season.
He was a player that LIVERPOOL were very heavily linked with signing during the summer window, but his massive asking price was a real problem for the Reds , and in the end, the decision was not made to make a move for the striker.
But now the Reds have been warned that clubs will still have to pay big money in order to sign Gyokeres in the future and Amorim has stressed this is likely what will be required to get a deal done while making reference to his own exit clause Sporting triggered to bring him to the club.
“The first time I spoke at Alvalade, I said that I never believed they would pay that much for me. (Gyokeres) must feel the same,” he told CNN Portugal. “It’s a very high clause.
“Gyokeres is a great player and I think he’s worth 100 million euros. That’s the price he has and we have to go ahead with it. Whoever wants to (sign him) will have to pay 100 million euros.”

Look, Gyokeres is a quality striker that could have been a great signing for LIVERPOOL – he will come at a risk for many clubs as the Premier League is alot better than the Portuguese League.
But with the new financial rules – it will be interesting to see if clubs are willing to pay that big money for the player.
