Germans opens up and confirm Liverpool interest in Belgian midfielder Thorgan Hazard

Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard’s wish to leave the Bundesliga club has been confirmed, with Liverpool’s interest confirmed in a potential deal

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has amassed quite a world class squad during his spell at Anfield and his side are now one of the best squads in world football, but it is not complete as the German boss is keen to add depth to his side in order to progress ahead of next season.

It was claimed earlier this week that the Belgian was keen on remaining in Germany, But Gladbach sporting director Max Erbel says this is not the case and the younger brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

He told BILD: “Thorgan has informed us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract and that he wants to leave the club in the summer to take the next step.

“I’ve heard this statement 15 times in the last 10 years as really great players have left us. That’s the way it is for us.

“We’ll have to see where his path will continue. I don’t know whether it will be at BVB (Borussia Dortmund), who are constantly being mentioned, or at Atletico Madrid, Liverpool or another club.”

Hazard has been impressive over the past few seasons for Monchengladbach and he is ready to make that next step in his career to see if he has the ability to make it at the very highest level of the game.

He could be a solid squad member and just the type of player that could come in and add something different to the side.

Liverpool may need big named players to take them to that next stage, but signing squad members is also need for the German as Liverpool will be challenging for pretty much every trophy next season.

And Hazard has shown that he is ready to take that next step and test himself at the highest level, and the fact he could arrive on a free, it would be a real bargain for Klopp to try and get a deal done.

Only time will tell if he would be a great signing for Liverpool, but it is a risk that Klopp should take as they will get some money if he fails to make any sort of impact at the club.
