German sends Liverpool fans message about £38M speculation – makes Reds admission.

Liverpool are reportedly not looking to make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, according to Bild reporter Tobi Altschaffl.

Speculation surrounding the France U21 international has accelerated in the last few weeks after reports of the Reds inquiring about the 22-year-old.

LIVERPOOL were previously quoted between €40m to €45m (£34m to £38m) and recent reports have claimed that they have already contacted the former Toulouse midfielder’s management over their interest.

Kone is one of the midfielders the Reds have been linked with this summer and although their interest has wavered in recent weeks, they may now reignite their interest as they look to get a few late deals done.

WHAT IS THE LATEST – 

Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Altschaffl said: “I can tell you I had some talks with really high-up representatives of Gladbach and it’s not Liverpool who are leading [for Manu Kone] at the moment.

“They told me they knew about the interest, we were talking about that before, but it’s not like Liverpool are pushing to get Kone.

“I don’t think the Kone-Liverpool topic is too hot at the moment, but let’s wait and see what will happen in the last few days of this exciting transfer window.”

WOULD HE BE A GOOD SIGNING?

Kone is certainly a player with a bright future and under the right manager – he could be a very good player.

Klopp knows what he wants and if he believes that Kone will be a good signing – then he will be. But they need to make sure that if a move is made – it is not for crazy money that clubs are seeking.

LIVERPOOL need to get a few more deals done over the next few days as they could really struggle if injuries and red-cards are picked up.
