£100m powerhouse tells Man United and Liverpool summer exit could happen this summer
Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly does not know where he will be playing next season amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United linked.
With United seeking to add some much needed world class players to the squad over the course of the next few months, there has been a lot of speculation in the media over the past few months which have suggested the Red Devils are keen to sign up Koulibaly.
The United back-line have simply not been good enough this season and it cost the club the chance to get back inside the top four, meaning that United will have to spend another season in the Europa League.
Koulibaly is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe right now and it is believed that Napoli will be interested in doing a summer deal, if the likes of United meet the high £110 million valuation they have placed on the powerhouses head.
And according to recent reports, United are understood to have lodged an initial £100m offer for the Senegal international.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is also desperate to add a top-class partner to Virgil Van Dijk to make the Liverpool defence even sturdier and there aren’t too many in the game better than Koulibaly right now.
And they will have been given a boost by the 28-year olds latest comment.
Koulibaly told Goal: “I don’t know [if I’ll still be at Napoli next year], I think so, but I have to play the AFCON and then after that I’ll go back to Napoli. Everyone’s speaking about me, but I’m only speaking about Senegal, because that’s my objective today and I want to achieve something big with Senegal.”
If United are serious about challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title again, then they will need to splash the cash and meet the valuation of Napoli, even if it is a little expensive for the defender.
So United will not be happy to see one of the rivals now entering the chase for Koulibaly, especially as it will bump up the asking price of the defender and also cause United to have a real problem because most players would prefer a move to Anfield over Old Trafford, RIGHT NOW.
