Spaniard to sign man United deal, Neymar message sent, Liverpool recieve cheeky offer, shock Pogba claim made by Solskjaer
Here is a roundup of the latest Manchester United and Liverpool news from icfootballnews.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested Spanish stopper David De Gea is on the brink of signing a new contract with Manchester United.
United are on a mission this summer to acquire some world class players and get the club challenging for more than a top four spot next season, with rumours that around £200 million could be spent by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But there has been a lot of speculation in the media over the past few months which have suggested that the Red Devils could lose one of their biggest players, as De Gea could not agree a new contract at the club.
It is believed that United did not offer the Spanish stopper the kind of deal that he would have liked, and that led to speculation that the likes of PSG, Juventus and Barcelona could all come calling to try and nail down his services.
However, the Old Trafford giants have offered the 28-year-old a new and improved deal in an attempt to finally agree upon a contract extension, and Solskjaer has suggested that a deal is close to being signed.
“Yeah, he will play tomorrow (against Leeds),” the United manager said on the Sky Sports website.
“And hopefully we can agree (a deal) with David, as I’ve said a few times. I think that’ll be up to David and the club to announce if that happens. If and when.”
PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he knew long-term Manchester United target Neymar wanted to leave the club before the Copa America.
Neymar is regarded as one of the finest talents in the game and has become a real superstar since his move from Barcelona to PSG, where he has struck up quite a partnership with Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbapppe.
However, there has been some speculation in the media which have suggested that PSG are open to the idea of selling Neymar over the next few months, if clubs meet the £200 million asking price.
And the Red Devils have been linked with a big-money move for the wantaway PSG star, despite the many reports in the media suggesting that he could be heading back to Barcelona this summer.
Now Tuchel, speaking after his side’s 6-1 friendly win over German side Dynamo Dresden on Tuesday evening, revealed he knew as early as last month of the player’s wishes – even before he failed to report back for pre-season training.
“I am always disappointed when a player turns up late but it is clear between us, now it is between the club and Neymar,” Tuchel told RMC.
“I knew he wanted to leave before the Copa America but it is something between the club and player.
“I am the coach, he’s my player. If he is in the locker room, this is my player and I work with him.
“But I am ready for everything and have to adapt every day.”
Reports have claimed there has been a cheeky bid from Barcelona for Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk, but what did the Reds say on a possible deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he still hopes to build his Manchester United team around Paul Pogba – despite the reports that he wants to leave the club this summer.
Pogba has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months with his lacklustre performances and hints that he wants to leave the club and head to Spain.
Speaking during a tour of Asia with adidas last month, Pogba said he is eyeing “a new challenge” in his career just three years on from his £89million return to Old Trafford, with Real Madrid reportedly keen on a transfer deal.
And now it looks like he is all set to leave Old Trafford this summer after agent Mino Raiola revealed his plans to move Pogba on in a hammer blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Solskjaer says he still hopes to build his United team around Pogba – despite the France midfielder admitting he wants a “new challenge”.
He told Sky Sports: “Paul is a fantastic player, a fantastic human being and has always been a great professional.
“I’ve had a great relationship with him, I had him in the reserves a few years back.
“And I said [previously], ‘if he’s in your squad, you’d build your team around him’, and I haven’t changed that much since then, so I would say the same now.”
