Klopp and Solskjaer warned! Liverpool and Man United sent expensive transfer message over Militao
Football expert Andy Brassell has told both Liverpool and Manchester United that Porto defender Eder Militao would be an expensive buy this January.
The Brazilian only joined Porto last summer but has excelled in the Super League and his performances have caught the attentions of both United and Liverpool.
Despite having the best defensive record in the Premier League, Liverpool are short on depth at the back and one or two serious injuries would leave them in big issues and not the right cover.
United on the other-hand need to improve the back-line for the sake of their season, they have not been good enough over the past few months and although they have had a good run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, their problems have not been sorted.
But Brassell reckons a mega deal for the 20-year-old is premature at this stage, especially as he has a big price tag.
“Militao, the Brazilian. He’s very inexperienced in the European game but has taken to it very quick,” he told talkSPORT.
“This is an expensive deal in January.
“Porto are protected by a very high release clause.
“That’s not out of reach for Premier League clubs but £60m for a guy who has played 20 games in Europe?
“He has played very well but Porto have a back-up plan with Pepe.
“It looks like either Monaco or Porto for Pepe.”
Is Militao worth £60 million right now?
United and Liverpool both need world class signings to improve the back-lines and signing a youngster for the kind of money that is being talked about, would not be good value for money.
He still has a lot to prove and needs a lot more development before he is ready for the Premier League, so for now, both should focus spending that kind of money and read-made players that will make an impact now.
