Liverpool offer for La Liga star – Spaniard will be at Liverpool player this summer – Klopp keen on Frenchman

Dietmar Hamann recently urged Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara to join Arsenal or Man City this summer, but he will not be going anywhere this summer

A hip injury ruled Thiago out for most of last season, with Jurgen Klopp not able to start him since the 3-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in February.

The Spaniard’s frustrating campaign epitomized LIVERPOOL ’s mood overall as he struggled to make an impact in 2022-23, and there is a feeling that he could be sold this summer.

A report last month claimed Thiago is wanted by former club Barcelona, where he emerged as a youngster over a decade ago, but there has also been talk that a move to Saudi Arabia could happen.

However – in a shocking claim – Hamann has backed the Gunners to make a move for the Spanish star, claiming he is perfect for a side that has alot of the possession.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

‘I’ve never been a big fan of Thiago Alcantara,’ Hamann recently told Lord Ping.

‘He’s having far too many injuries and he couldn’t get in the LIVERPOOL team last season when he was fit and when there was a lot less competition in his position.

‘If someone else comes in like Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia or Aurelien Tchouameni then the competition will be very tough.

‘Liverpool have Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic coming back too, who will all need minutes. I don’t see Thiago featuring too much next season, even if he is fit.

‘I’m sure there are clubs interested in Thiago, if he stays in the Premier League, he needs to join one of the top four teams who have a lot of possession, like Man City or Arsenal.

‘The more possession you have, the better Thiago plays.

‘He’s not the best player out of possession, there might be a market in Spain too.

‘He’s been a decent player, not a ‘great’ player for Liverpool as some people have said. The physicality of the Premier League has gotten to him.’

However – if you believe the words of reporter Iomie Stanley – the midfielder will not be going anywhere – he told IcFootballnews: ‘Thiago is one of the best midfielders in the words, so it is a shock to see that he has not hit the heights that many expected.

‘But with all the departures that Liverpool have seen this summer – it could be a mistake to let him leave the club without an immediate replacement signed, or lined up.

‘Klopp will not allow him to leave unless a silly offer arrives – and that is why he will not be going anywhere this transfer window.’

THURAM WANTED – 

OGC Nice’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi recently revealed that  Khephren Thuram could leave the club, and Liverpool are still keen on a deal

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp knows that his current side are not good enough to compete with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and possibly Chelsea for that Premier League title next season.

He knows that he needs to add some more quality to the squad – some more depth and freshness – and that had les to rumours that the exciting Thuram is a man that the club are interested in.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the south of France and earned a call-up to the senior national team as well as a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.

Jurgen Klopp has already signed midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and has also added Dominic Szoboszlai to the squad, but with both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leaving the club – Thuram is a man the club want.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

Speaking to the press at the recent unveiling of signings Jeremie Boga and Morgan Sanson, Ghisolfi was cross-examined about outgoings at Nice, particularly stances on both Thuram and centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, who has also been linked with Liverpool this summer.

Via France Bleu Azur, he responded: “Thuram and Todibo are coveted. We hope to keep all of our vital players, but we’ve never tied players down. If all parties are satisfied, a departure could happen.”

DO LIVERPOOL STILL WANT THURAM?

Klopp is a massive fan of the talents of the young Frenchman and does still want him at Anfield, but not for the money that is being talked about.

Nice want £50 million for the lad and Liverpool do not want to pay that, and that is why he has not yet signed for the Reds.

There is no doubt that he is a player that Liverpool want to sign – it all comes down to money.

VEIGA OFFER MADE – 

It seems that Liverpool have made moves to try and sign Celta Vigo star Gabriel Veiga.

There are a number of positions that the club need to fix – and adding a new central midfielder is something that the club need to do as there are also a few players linked with moves away.

Recent reports have claimed that LIVERPOOL are in the race to sign Veiga from Celta Vigo but they are facing strong competition from a number of top Eeuropean clubs.

WHAT IS THE LATEST – 

Estadio Deportivo has reported that Liverpool have made an initial bid of €25m for Celta Vigo’s promising talent Gabri Veiga as they continue to strengthen their squad.

The reports come after Journalist Ben Jacobs recently claimed Liverpool have met with the Spaniards over a possible deal – Jacobs said via The Boot Room: “There’s a release clause there, there’s plenty of Premier League clubs who are looking at the player.

“And game time is going to be quite important to Gabri Veiga as well.

“I know for example, Liverpool haven’t moved for Veiga, but they scouted him and there was a recent conversation between someone senior at Liverpool and Rafa Benitez.

“The feeling was that there might be an opportunity to sign and loan back because the player’s so adamant that if he moves to a big Premier League club, he needs instant game time.

“I’m not convinced that anyone out of the big Premier League clubs would be able to offer him that.”

SHOULD LIVERPOOL SPEND BIG MONEY TO GET A DEAL DONE?

Look, Veiga is a very solid midfielder that could be a very solid addition to that squad – the scouts have been watching him for a while.

Will he make a massive difference to that Liverpool squad? Not really.

Will he add some depth? Yes he will.

Will he be the man that gets the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea , Arsenal and Man United worried? No he will not.
