Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool told to ‘push ahead’ and wrap up £50 million signing

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted LIVERPOOL should push ahead with a £50million summer deal for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.

Liverpool have been poor defensively this season and conceded far too many goals for the quality that they have in that back-line.

Liverpool stars Joe Gomez and Joal Matip started together on the Premier League’s final day, conceding four times in a 4-4 draw with relegated Southampton, and showed that without Virgil Van Dijk they are a mess at the back.

The Merseysiders have also been credited with an interest in highly-rated centre-back duo Josko Gvardiol and Goncalo Inacio, but Agbonlahor has claimed that the Reds should make a move for the impressive Marc Guehi.

Guehi has developed into a solid Premier League defender over the past few seasons and all indications suggest that he is not ready to make that move to a big club and test himself at the highest level.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider.: “I do like Guehi.

“There’s been talk about Tomori getting into the England squad, but I think Guehi is the better defender.

“He’s got the right Premier League experience for Liverpool. They’ve got Van Dijk and Konate, but for me – Matip and Gomez aren’t good enough, and they should go.

“They’re too inconsistent and injury-prone.

“They need a top defender like Guehi to challenge Konate for that place.”

Guehi is a very talented young defender, he really is.

Jurgen Klopp could turn him into of the best in the game if he does make the move to LIVERPOOL – but spending £50 million on the man is crazy money.
