LIVERPOOL icon Emile Heskey believes Jonathan David will play his way into the Reds transfer plans, amid the many reports that he is one player that Arsenal are also interested in signing.

“Lille’s Jonathan David has been linked with Liverpool and I could see him being a good fit up top, so we’ll have to see what kind of performance he’ll put in in tonight’s game.

“If were the recruitment team as Liverpool, I’d definitely be bringing in a young striker, someone who has scope to grow as a player within the club.

“You never know whether young players will take a bit of time to settle, or if they’ll hit the ground running like Erling Haaland did at Manchester City. I don’t think Liverpool need to look at anyone in their ‘prime’.”

A former LIVERPOOL right back comments on the current one now, as Glen Johnson spoke to BetVictor Casino about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s expiring contract and what the Real Madrid star will do at the end of the season.

Now, amid all the speculation and rumours, Johnson has come out and claimed that Liverpool will not feel confident that they can convince Alexander-Arnold to agree a new contract at the club: “I don’t think Liverpool will be confident that they can tie Trent Alexander-Arnold down, the longer it goes on, the unlikelier it looks,” he fears.

“They have an awful lot going in their favour of course, they might win the league and Trent’s a local lad. That said, let’s face it, every team out there wants to sign Trent on a free. It’s difficult to say that they’re certain they’ll tie him down.”

He added: “I can’t see Liverpool being able to do much to sway his decision that they haven’t already done. I don’t think the captaincy is something that holds as much weight as before, all players are captains now on the pitch.

“It’s down to how much he wants to stay and whether he wants to move on in the next stage of his career. If there was the exact same contract in front of him from both Real Madrid and LIVERPOOL, then it’s really a case of what the player wants.

“Trent is super professional. I don’t think you’ll see any effect on the pitch, but the prospect of a move to Madrid will be going through his head. Naturally, you want to play for these giants and when they come calling it’s going to get your attention.”

GITTENS OPEN TO PREM MOVE
