£36 million bargain! Klopp ready to sign up 11-goal contract rebel Werner for Liverpool

Reports have claimed Liverpool are ready to make a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, if he rejects a new contract from the German side.

The young striker is fast becoming one of the most sought after players in Europe, after impressing at RB Leipzig since making his debut back in 2016, and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been keeping a close eye on his development as he looks to add some depth to his ever impressing squad.

And his interest has reportedly grown this season after Werner started the new campaign in fine fashion with an impressive eleven goals already, making him one of the leading scorers in the Bundesliga, while also showing Europe just what talent he possesses.

Leipzig are desperate to keep hold of their prized asset and are trying to convince the German to sign a big five-year deal to stay put, But accoridng to Bild, Werner is hesitating and believes he is ready to make the next step in his career.

Werner stated in the summer that in order for him to become a world class player, he needs to make the move to a bigger club, he was quoted on the Metro website: ‘To become a world-class player, I’ll probably have to play in an even better team at club level.

‘I want to be honest, Naby Keita hasn’t become world class with us either, he may now be at Liverpool.’

Is Werner needed at Anfield?

Liverpool already have one of the best attacks in Europe and adding to that may disrupt the flow Klopp currently has in his squad, but to keep players at the top of their game, he needs depth and adding a talent like Werner would keep Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all on their toes.

And for the £36 million that he could leave for, it would be a real bargain for Klopp if he manages to win the race for Werner.
