Arne Slot told to bring £100M winger to Liverpool this summer ‘ ‘would be a good signing’

Pundit Phil Thompson has urged Liverpool to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon this summer window.

Gordon has had a decent season with Newcastle this season and impressed for the Toon – but with all the speculation that Mohamed Salah could depart Liverpool at some point in the near future  – Gordon has been linked with a shock move to Merseyside.

Newcastle have no interest in selling one of their star players, but now face a fight to convince Gordon to stay at St. James’ Park.

According to The Telegraph, the Euro 2024 star has had his ‘head turned’ by the Reds and was ‘extremely keen’ on moving to Anfield before the deal collapsed, so if now open to a big club move in the coming months

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Thompson has told LIVERPOOL to sign Gordon: ‘Anthony Gordon would be a good signing for Liverpool, especially as a right-footer playing on the left wing,’ Thompson said

‘Luis Diaz is very good, but there has been rumours about him leaving, so I wonder what is going on there.

‘I did hear a report that Newcastle want Jarell Quansah as a swap, but that wouldn’t come into it because he’s one of the bright lights of this new Liverpool side, and he’s going to be a regular in our setup.

‘Anthony Gordon would be an asset, but where would he get into the starting team at LIVERPOOL because you’ve got Mo Salah on one side and then Luis Díaz and Diogo Jota on the other side.

‘If you’re looking to build-up a squad, then I would take him, but it does depend on the price. Gordon is a good player, and I would like to see him at Liverpool.’
