Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sent massive Van Dijk transfer warning as £75 million man could leave?
BBC pundit Garth Crooks has claimed Virgil Van Dijk could leave Liverpool if they fail to win the Champions League at the end of the month.
After months of speculation Liverpool managed to win the race to the signature of De Ligt just over 12 months ago to make the Dutchman the worlds most expensive defender when he officially signed for the Reds, and since then he has become arguably the best centre-half in world football.
His performances and leadership at the back for Liverpool have made the Reds one of the best defensive sides in Europe, and has also made them a force to be reckoned with as they chased a Premier League and Champions League double.
And Crooks has come out and claimed that Liverpool should be worried about losing the big powerhouse in the coming windows as both Barcelona and Madrid will be casting their eyes on Van Dijk.
‘I have almost run out of superlatives to describe Virgil van Dijk’s performances this season,’ said Crooks.
‘What the Dutch international has brought to Liverpool’s defence is almost unquantifiable.
‘I do feel however, that if Liverpool fail to win the Champions League, and that is by no means certain, it may hasten Van Dijk’s departure.
‘Players of his class need to be playing for the best team in the world.’
There is no doubt that Van Dijk is making all the right sorts of headlines, and it would be obvious to see big clubs cast an eye. But he has become a real fans favourite at Anfield and has shown no desire to leave anytime soon, so unless there is a massive offer that Klopp cannot refuse, then Liverpool fans should not worry about losing the Dutchman in the next few windows.
The fact is Liverpool can win the Premier League or Champions League next season then there could be even more money to find Van Dijk a perfect partner at the back, as he needs help in front of Alisson.
Even if Liverpool don’t win the Champions League this season, Van Dijk will surely not leave?
